One more week and we’re done. If next week’s
episode is half as good as this week’s, the season will end on a happy note. It was perfect from start to finish. Alias is at its best when every character has his own story and somehow the writers
end up tying them all together. The episode had so many jaw-dropping moments I don’t know where to begin. If there’s
one thing that stood out, though, was Will learning Syd’s a spy. I’m relieved.
Sark was a huge part of the episode and even managed to outsmart Sloane. That’s
hard to do. He’s mysterious and led SD-6 right to Khasineau. His loyalties are flexible and Sark
got some great scenes with Sloane: one detestable person against another. David Anders did a great job with his character
and somehow I’m glad to see more of this guy. He’s dangerous (actually
lethal) and he has a great personality. At least he’s not just some hired boring assassin. I can see him on the
show for years to come. He has a few layers we’ve yet to see. He’s sarcastic and manipulative. I loved when he
asked for the bottle of Château Petreuse. Great stuff. We should call him a lovable
villain. Nice oxymoron.
The cliffhanger was nicely resolved. Vaughn came to the rescue
and consequently gave up Sark to SD-6. To me, the mission was
sloppy. Jack was right to yell at his daughter. She’s getting so involved with finding her mother that she forgets the
most important thing at hand: stopping SD-6. Meanwhile, Dixon is more convinced than ever
that Sydney is a double. He’s starting to piece all of this together. He vaguely
remembers the incident in Argentina, but enough to remember Sydney’s
CIA codename, “Freelancer.” And now he thinks that Sydney was undercover as a member
of the Raslak Jihad in Denpasar. Syd, be careful.
Ron Rifkin was wonderful this week. His best scene was with
Jennifer Garner when he’s expressing his gratitude to Sydney for not turning Emily in.
His voice actually cracked. I don’t know if it was accidental, but in any case, Rifkin has surprised me. He adds a lot
to Sloane. His face was priceless when he found out that Emily had entered remission. He’s just heard the worst news
ever. How ironic! Who here thinks he’ll kill his wife now? Me. I did feel
a touch of sympathy for him this week, but that cold blooded killer is still inside. If he can have a piece of the Alliance at his feet, he won’t hesitate to take it. We did though for the first time see a humane side to Sloane. That’s
always great to see.
Will is as deep into the spy world as can be. Vaughn suggested
recruitment and I don’t think that’s a bad idea. Will would be a great agent. I loved his scream when he saw Sydney’s face after she fought the guards. Priceless. The fight scene in the club was great. Will was just stunned
when he watched Sydney take down guard after guard after guard. I’m glad he knows the truth
now. He doesn’t have to bother her about her job anymore. Will knows she’s out saving the world, risking her life
day in and day out. I hope he doesn’t do anything stupid and get caught. That’s
the last thing I need.
I loved watching Jack with Will. Jack has no patience with
him and just disregards every sarcastic comment Will makes. I love it. I’m glad that everything is out in the open.
Sydney knows what Jack’s been doing with Will, Will knows the truth about Sydney and we’re all a happy family. Ya right! Now Will’s wither been killed or abducted. Why do they do this
to me?
Syd’s Tips
-
When needing to read a target’s pulse
using a ring, flirt with your target and get close to him.

Jack: “Your pursuit of your mother is

Some Final Notes
-
Francie, Sydney and Will were watching some
kind of soap-opera. Typical of Francie to follow something like that. Personally, I hate them.
-
Emily was so sweet when she heard the results
of her examination. Little does she know that a terrorist organization wants her head.
-
Who’s Deep-Throat? I think it’s
someone we knew.
-
I was at once shocked and gratified at Weiss’
attitude. The poor guy takes a fall for Vaughn in front of Devlin. Vaughn has to start thinking of his colleagues. I’m
glad that Weiss finally stuck it to him.
-
I don’t want Emily to die.
-
Cliffhanger: Will has been shot by Sark.
5 stars, of course.
