Phase One
Episode 2.13

OMG! Unbelievable! This was the episode of the century. Pure genius. I am still in shock. I don’t know if this was a dream or not. This was just a classic episode and without a doubt the best so far. How can I expect less? I can’t believe they tried this now. We’re smack in the middle of the season. How could they take down SD-6? Where will the show go from here? I am at a loss. Possibly the best hour of television ever. I’m being completely serious.

It was a bold move on J.J.’s part to wipe out the Alliance. I think it will actually work. Don’t forget, this was the Superbowl episode and whatever happened, we needed action and sex. We got both. My mouth fell to the ground when Jennifer came out wearing almost nothing. Hey, I’m a guy, what do you want me to say? I just hope the writers know where they’re going with this. I’m sure they do, but we have to pray anyways. Although it seems too convenient, the existence of a server 47 was necessary. There had to be an Alliance central computer. It seemed too easy to hack though. I’m guessing they weren’t expecting such a surprise. Also, the computer had to be in an airplane protected by some womanizer who spent his whole life on that same plane. Sydney went in and did her thing. Also, Francie is dead. Or isn’t she. It seems she was doubled. Excellent.

The episode worked because there were a lot of great little scenes. The best one belonged to Dixon and Sydney. Up in the mining station, Sydney meets Dixon to ask a favor. She needs him to hack server 47 to confirm the codes. Carl Lumbly was excellent. He was a genius. He had both a look of shock in his face and of anger. He was shocked to learn he was part of the Alliance, but more importantly angered. He hoped Sydney would have told him before. As it seems, she might have to rebuild a brand new relationship with her old partner. Don’t leave us, Dixon. Also, his telephone call to his wife was necessary. Dixon is a family man. He has two great kids he simply adores. He has an adoring wife. He knew he maybe couldn’t come out alive. Anyways, I loved it.

Sydney and Vaughn’s conversation in the private room was great. Sydney wanted to make sure Vaughn felt the same way about her. I commend him for stepping up and finally telling her he loves her. I liked when he said it was hard to concentrate in meetings because all he wants to do is kiss her. I’ve had that same experience. And I hate meetings. And of course, the kiss at the end sealed the deal. They are officially a couple. Poor Alice.

Jack also went through a hard time. He was being tortured by Geiger. Once again, the fact that Jack and Sydney have a special phrase to warn them if the other’s been made shows what a dysfunctional family they really are. Jack held his ground though. I think Jack’s safety became Sydney’s only concern. Her every move was to save him. She took on extreme measures to save him. At one point, she ignored the fact that the Alliance was out of the way. It hadn’t settled in yet.

Francie and Will also had a little action. They kissed for the first time in the kitchen. What happened to Francie though really pisses me off. I love Francie and now she appears to be replaced by Evil Francie. I’m sure it’s going to be a great storyline, but I’m really going to miss her. And her restaurant began making profit. Good news is always accompanied by bad. Or your death. It will be interesting to see this new Francie live under the same roof as Sydney. I’m guessing this is the plan.

Speaking of the plan, Sloane mastered this whole thing. It really doesn’t surprise me, but it was ingenious. Phase One was to take down the Alliance with the help of the CIA. How did Sloane know that Jack and Sydney were doubles? I’m sure there were really were a lot of red flags over the years. Sloane would have to be an idiot not to have noticed that. So what’s next in his plan? They’re obviously going for something huge. I’m almost certain it will involve Rambaldi somehow. It has to. Now with their new asset in place a.k.a. Evil Francie, they look pretty much set to so anything. I’m scared.

Syd’s Tips

-          When being fired at on a plane, shoot the window and let everything get sucked out. Your attacker will be shocked. Warning: make sure you are strong enough to hold on to chairs or anything you can find.

-          Always make sure to disable your target’s call button.

Quotable Quotes

-          Nacor (in French): “Put on the red one.” Pervert.

-          Sydney: “What was wrong with the black one?” I was parading when Sydney punched Nacor out.

-          Weiss (walking into Syd and Vaughn’s conversation): “What is this? The flirting corner?”

-          Jack: “I’ve been doing this a long time. There’s rarely an end to the story.” That’s true.

-          Sark: “New boss has a dreadful personality, don’t you think?”

Sydney: “I’ve seen worse.”

Sark: “Am I supposed to take that personally?” Sure.

-          Weiss (to Vaughn): “No man naturally smells as well as you do now.”

-          Will (about kissing Francie): “You know the weird thing? It wasn’t weird at all.”

-          Jack: “Take surface streets. They’re doing work on the freeway.” I like that. That is a smart code. I wouldn’t expect anything less from Jack.

-          Geiger (to Jack): “Both your files. They were so many red flags I though I was in a Russian airport.”

-          Sark: “The Alliance is gone.” It sure is.

Some Final Notes

-          Sydney was great when she strangled Nacor and yelling at him for making her change.

-          I loved the use of Lenny Kravitz’s “American Woman.” I love that song.

-          Sydney was out jogging and there were people out having picnics and just playing Frisbee. It was an odd day in the world of Alias.

-          I’m happy Francie started making profit on her restaurant. I didn’t want to see her go. She might not have been an important part of the show, but the show needs her. I’m going to miss her.

-          How did Sloane know that Sydney and Jack were double agents? That sends chills down my spine. He could have done anything to them at any time.

-          Although unrealistic, the scenes in the plane were excellent. I’m just wondering how Sydney was able to hold on for so long without slipping and getting sucked out. She was even strong enough to go get a parachute.

-          I completely forgot. Sydney’s mom is still in prison. Hoorah! We still have one storyline.

-          Is Sydney done with the CIA now? She said the only reason she joined was to get rid of SD-6? Will she just focus on school?

-          Anthony Geiger was a scary man. He once met Jack at a party. The CIA had no record on him whatsoever. He’s also good at finding out secrets. That’s for sure. I couldn’t bare hearing him talk about Danny. It does seem like centuries now that he died.

-          The SD-6 set is gone.

-          Sloane is out somewhere in the Philippines with Emily. What else is he planning?

Best episode ever. EVER! I’m so excited to see where this goes. 6 stars
