Endgame
Episode 2.19

Papa Bristow versus Daughter Bristow. Talk about juiciness. I was definitely on edge this week. Jack was having Sydney followed. Sydney won this match, but only by a hair. Her father will always be right behind her, or in most cases, in front of her. When it comes down to it, Jack will always outsmart his daughter.

It’s time for Sydney to learn that Jack only acts this way to protect his daughter. It’s selfish of her to wander off halfway around the world driving her father crazy because he can’t be there with her. I’m surprised with Vaughn too. I still don’t like him. You would have thought that he would understand what Jack was talking about. Jack tells him flat out that his only intentions are to protect Sydney. Can’t he respect that? He lets his girlfriend’s father lose sleep over this whole scenario.

I don’t blame Jack for going crazy. Elsa Caplan was virtually tasked with the same objective that Irina was given a while ago. He no doubt thought Sydney was going to land herself into some trouble—a trap set up by Elsa. But Jack was wrong on one point: Elsa is no Irina. Jack failed to see that. In his eyes, all these women are one in the same: deceptive, ruthless, plastic women who will do anything for their countries. He’s seen it all before. This story didn’t end here though.

Elsa fell in love with Neil Caplan. I’m glad Christian Slater returned to reprise his role as the genius, yet (as it turns out) deadly NSA agent. This story is more convoluted than I thought. He’s NSA. A bit farfetched, but what can you do? They both fell in love though. This really puzzles me. Does this mean that people can just grow to love each other or was Elsa really blessed to meet this man? By the way Neil was talking to Syd, he didn’t seem like he had a problem with his wife being SVR. It was all routine and natural. I liked the ending scene where Neil tells his wife that they have a lot to work out. Will Elsa quit her job? Will Neil quit his?

Burning with anger, Sloane tasked his new deadly agent to pull satellite footage from Tuscany. Can you say uh-oh? Now, as far as something useless for Sloane to do, why kill Diane? What did the poor woman do to him? She was finally getting over this whole thing with her husband. She began accepting him for who he is. She wanted him to make the decision that would make him most happy. I’m glad Dixon decided to stay with the CIA. How long is he going to stay sane though? Losing his wife will make him want to chase Sloane even more.

From Sloane’s part, that’s just a cruel thing to do. He knows Dixon wasn’t aiming for Emily. But still, the devil has to do his own little business to harm the unnecessary enemy. We can tell that Sloane doesn’t care anymore about Rambaldi. He has lost his way and not even Irina can steer him back on the right path. He’s lost everything there is to lose. What is there after you lose your wife? Not much.

Syd’s Tips

-          When being pursued by agents, drive into a drugstore. Buy a fake wig, wrapping paper to make into a skirt. And make sure to act like the crowd around you. Try and act like them.

Quotable Quotes

-          Sloane (about Rambaldi): “I wish I never heard that man’s name.”

-          Vaughn (to Sydney): “No one’s harder on themselves than you are.”

-          Sydney: “She turned herself in.”

Jack: “She’s not the first.”

-          Vaughn (to Weiss): “I’ll give you a drawer at my place.”

-          Jack: “Just because you have become more comfortable with my daughter doesn’t mean you can get comfortable with me.” I loved this one.

-          Weiss: “If we end up sharing a cell in Federal Prison, I’m not giving you a drawer.” Weiss is obsessed with that drawer.

-          Jack: “Sydney, if you go around me again, I’ll have you transferred.” Papa isn’t playing around anymore.

Some Final Notes

-          I really was scared that Dixon was going to get reassigned. He’s been on and off this season. I don’t want Diane’s death to really affect him as much as I think it will.

-          I’m surprised Irina had the decency to let him call Elsa. I didn’t think she had it in her.

-          Syd gave Vaughn his own drawer. He was so proud of his drawer. Poor Weiss wants a drawer too.

-          The scenes in the drug store are classics. How did Sydney know so much about the Sigma Gammas? Did she just guess what they did on Wednesday nights?

-          I jumped when Neil tried strangling Irina. Sloane was there to save the day.

-          Again, it was a bit farfetched how Sydney, in her head, came up with a skip sequence cyphertext.

-          Marshall introduced himself to Will and tried going into his whole life’s story. That’s hysterical.

-          Jack really made Elsa in the CIA cell. He really pushed her to the limit telling her he probably loves her son more than she does.

-          Evil Francie has just been insane lately. Now she kills Diane. She needs to get kicked in the ass.

-          Jack knows now that the satellite footage was pulled from this office. Miss Psycho Franc has framed Will now. This is not good.

Very good. 4 stars
