Everyone has something to talk about. Meredith is the talk
of the hospital. Everyone talks about her steamy sex with McDreamy. Did she do anything to anyone? The cases this week were
amazing. The pregnant guy (that’s weird to say) storyline is an instant classic in my books. That was great.
Meredith is just a train wreck. I don’t understand
people sometimes. The other interns and doctors don’t have the whole story, so why do they persist on looking down on
her the way they are. It’s not fair. I love the scene where she tells everyone to get out of Mr. Herman’s room.
This is Meredith taking control of herself in a way. Mr. Herman is exactly like Meredith. He is stared at and displayed as
if he were a slideshow. Meredith understands that. The Hermans want to move on. They don’t want to feel embarrassed
anymore; Meredith wants to move on as well. Who can blame her? But anywhere they
go, people embarrass them. It also occurred to me that Mr. Herman’s “baby” is not his doing. It has always
been there. Falling for Derek is not Meredith’s fault either. Both parties are victims of inherent causes. They can’t
change their situation; they can only try to make it better.
Meredith has to be congratulated for keeping her composure
for as long as she has. She’s a freakin’ surgical intern. How much more can she handle in her life? Surprisingly,
she is the only one who did anything about the media coverage around Herman’s body. Even Bailey didn’t take notice
of the media frenzy; she wanted to take a picture with the belly. But like Meredith says, everybody needs something to talk
about. That’s how we are. Until her nights with McDreamy become old news,
she’ll have to deal with all of this. Meredith, I feel for you.
I like the way Cristina’s relationship with Burke is
working out. Yes, in case you didn’t know, Burke is more responsible that Shepherd. He went straight to the chief rather
than have the chief find out by himself. I would never do that. But I’ve never
been known for my responsibility. I can understand Cristina’s reluctance to tell the Chief. She cares about her
reputation. She cares about her job. She won’t become Meredith Grey. For one, Cristina is more individualistic. She
hates people staring at her or doing anything else to her for that matter. But her relationship with Burke is going to become
public sooner or later. So if Burke wants to be responsible, let him.
I don’t understand Alex. He can be at times the most
self-obsessed, obnoxious and cocky jackass I have ever seen. At other times, he can be the only guy to make a difference.
Nicole is paralyzed and to this day, has not been able to have any social life whatsoever. She has an overprotective mother
that has to okay everything her mother does. She also has to carry a bag around her ankle all the time. That’s tough. There’s a surgery that can vastly improve her lifestyle. Alex takes her around the hospital.
She tells Alex that she doesn’t feel ready to be on her own; she doesn’t feel ready to live by herself. Alex gives
her a reason to live, telling her that there are great times to be had. He tells her about first kisses, first loves and friendships.
She has a lot to learn.
Dear Diary
Meredith: Fine. I get it.
Everyone thinks I’m pathetic. But I don’t care anymore. I’m sick and tired of living by the rules established
by everyone else. I slept with Derek. What’s so hard to understand? I’m not getting special treatment and I feel
like crap. Right, I’m really the one that’s privileged. It’s like what happened with Mr. Herman today. Ok,
I can understand how a case like this one can be interesting. He looked pregnant. But, that’s no reason to make him
more embarrassed than he already is. They are tired. They were panicking even more when we were talking like doctors rather
than people. I would panic as well. Cristina and Izzie came up with the idea to make some money by selling tickets to watch
the surgery from the gallery. Seriously. That was enough. They made money off other people’s pain. Were they betting
on me too? I wouldn’t be surprised.
Cristina: I don’t
want to be like Meredith. I don’t want to be stared at and made fun of or nothing like that. I have my own stuff to
deal with and my relationship with Burke is the last thing. We’re called a couple for a reason; we’re two people.
I didn’t want to tell the chief, but Burke had to go and tell him anyways. I don’t care if he doesn’t like
my opinion; I want him to respect it though. You become an attending and you think you own the world. I’ll probably
be the same way, but this is now. And now is pissing me off. And the worst thing happened today. Supposedly, I pissed off
the nurses and they kept dumping me with the worst cases: diarrhea, enemas, vomit. I still don’t understand how those
things are surgical. I found a case and they took me away from the pregnant man. You heard me. The pregnant man.
Today’s Baileyisms
-
“And you three, brush up on how not
to embarrass me in front if the attendings. Or I’ll see to it that your hearts stop hearing. We clear?”
- Bailey: “Pissing off the nurses. Stupid.”
Quotable Quotes
-
Addison: “You want me
to pick up and move my entire practice? I want you to give up your girlfriend.” Nice Addie.
-
Addison: “I know. You’re
a flannel-wearing, wood-chopping fisherman. I get it.” Seriously.
- George: “We have to do something. Meredith has
become like an exhibit like...hey... like a zoo animal...like that rare panda that everyone stares at.”
Izzie:
“Please don’t say that to her face. I think that panda died alone.”
- Cristina: “Now, you can either walk away guilt-free,
or risk your place in the program, which could possibly lead to spending the rest of your life serving fries in bad clothing.
So you in?”
Meredith: “Hell, yeah.”
- Cristina: “Give me a break, we shuffle rooms all
the time. You know, if we need a bedpan changed, we’ll let you know.” I don’t think Cristina we’ll
say that ever again.
- Nicole: “Hi. I'm Alex’s charity case.”
Cristina: “I like her already.”
- Derek: “I just want to find out if she’s
okay.”
Bailey:
“No, she’s not. She’s a human traffic accident, and everybody’s slowing down to look at the wreckage.
She’s doing the best she can with what she has left, and I know you can’t see this ’cause you’re in
it, but you can’t help her now. You’ll only make it worse. Walk away. Leave her to mend.” I love Bailey.
- Nicole: “I’m like the oldest living prospective
college freshman not to go to first base.”
- Mr. Griswold (about his wife): “She’s
like some, some mythical monster. She’s never gonna die!”
Some Final Notes
- Addison wants Derek to stop talking to Meredith.
I think that’s been taken care of.
- Addison has decided to move to Seattle. Webber
hired her to work for his department.
- Mrs. Griswold has undergone four heart surgeries
and has had her heart catch on fire and she has still survived. That woman is never going to die.
- Mr. Griswold was scary. He went absolutely psycho
when he heard she survived. He started laughing hysterically. He left her. He couldn’t stand her anymore.
- How weird was it when Mr. Herman’s pregnancy
test tested positive? That was weird.
- Bailey told the nurse that if she needed a bed
changed, she’d call her. That was mean.
- Addison loves viewfinders. In every city she’s
in, she vinds viewfinders.
- Alex calls himself a “cute ass.”
- I jumped when Mrs. Griswold’s heart catches
fire.
- Cristina first assumed that Bailey was the one
giving her the bad cases. It was the nurses of course.
- Bailey stopped Derek when he wanted to go speak
to Meredith. She says there’s nothing he can do.
- Burke calls George “his guy.”
- George kept making a fool of himself every time
he mentions Cristina to Burke. He can’t keep his mouth shut.
- Herman’s built-up of cells were there all
his life. It just decided to start growing a month ago.
- Alex finally kisses Izzie in Joe’s bar.
Izzie couldn’t breathe after. He took her breath away.
