Two freakin’ proposals. I am in awe. It kind of feels
like the first part of the season is over and the new part has just begun. These two possible weddings are without a doubt
going to drive the show. Not to mention the new idea about the Denny Duquette Memorial Clinic. This show is above and beyond
anything I’ve seen.
Let’s do things once at a time. Let’s start with
what the writers have been hinting to for awhile: the chief’s retirement. And as I expected, the hospital went wild.
We want competition, we want drama, and we want more shocking surprises. Think Adele
with another man. As we expected, the attendings are vying for the title of chief of surgery. It’s funny to watch
the interns we respect become like children. They are the interns. And in most cases, I was disappointed with their attitude.
They’re supposed to set an example for the rest of
the field. That’s hardly what they’re doing. Derek was promised the position and Burke doesn’t want it anymore.
I think I know who’s going to get; Addison will. It sounds so perfect in my head. It would make the show so interesting and fresh. Not that it needs it. But I think it’s important to emphasize what the Chief’s feeling.
The Chief had his first meeting with the board about his
retirement; it’s a done deal. Webber had such a glow when he came back from the meeting. He was having a great day.
He was also looking forward to seeing his wife again. Adele, however, had a man in her house. It’s actually still his house if we’re being technical. At first, I just felt pissed. But it makes
sense. Adele told him to retire. He decided to ignore her threat. She is fed up with him; that was like three months ago.
How should she feel now? But she better give the Chief a second chance. I hope.
Bailey went all out this week as ‘the Nazi’ returned
in style. What is so wrong with a free clinic? And what I’ve heard is that creating a free clinic will open a lot of
doors for the writers to work with. But Bailey needs to believe in something bigger. What’s wrong with that? She needs
something else to believe in. She wants life to be greater than surgery. Bailey has a great heart. She has drive and motivation.
Her child gave her something else to believe in. Medicine has to be bigger than sutures. And now partnering with Izzie, Bailey
is on her way for great things. The Denny Duquette Memorial Clinic is on its way.
I loved
her giving hell to the attendings. Whether or not she will be chief, Bailey is definitely the best thing the hospital has.
The Chief knows it. This is why he wanted her to do things by herself. She has the potential to be chief. She will be chief.
I’m sure of it.
Following the death of his father, George is having a lot
of sex. That’s how he’s dealing with his stress. But it’s like he says: all he wants is to see Callie. Who doesn’t want to see her? I love her. But it’s going to take awhile
for George to settle back into his life. And his talk with Izzie is his first step to settling things in his life. This scene
could not have been any more beautiful. It’s what I call FLAWLESS. T.R. Knight can really act and this season has been
his baby. Izzie hugging George was just a beautiful moment in Grey’s Anatomy
history. I just loved it.
So Cristina turned out to be the one who broke the silence.
Winning the race isn’t what’s important; it’s making it to the finish line. She’s in it with Burke
until the very end. She’s sticking and all that’s happened this year are just obstacles they had to jump over.
There sure were a lot of them. And Burke just stood in awe. He is so in love with
her. And that led to—
The freakin’ proposal. If there’s ever another
moment like that in television history, I’ll be damned. I don’t think Burke’s proposal was planned; his
love for Cristina infatuated him. The editing on this bit was excellent. Timing George to propose right after Burke was brilliant.
Having both women just stare in awe as their beaus tell them, “marry me” was genius as well. Callie was speechless.
I don’t think Callie is going to go through with it. Cristina will without a doubt marry Burke. It’s not going
to interfere with her professional life in any way. She has nothing to lose. All I can say: the doors have been opened for
the rest of the season.
Dear Diary
Meredith: Derek yelled
at me. Why did he yell at me? So I have a big mouth. He should know that before. But I’ve never done this before. I
didn’t think he was going to show up again. I heard that’s what people do when they’re in a relationship.
So we agreed on something: I would come back if I ever yelled and he would come back if he ever yelled. Sounds good to me.
I didn’t think he would show up. I’m lost with this whole couple thing. I mean Cristina and Burke aren’t
talking so it seemed only logical for me not to talk to Derek. Right?
Alex: What else could I
tell Addison? She expect every man to watch her as she walks passed them in the hallway. Not every guy is
interested in her. Besides, she kissed me. I didn’t kiss her. So I might have kissed her a bit. She’s smokin’
hot though. I had to. I don’t want to be known as another intern sleeping with an attending. We already have too many
of those.
Today’s Baileyisms
-
“You didn’t think of telling me
you were stepping down this morning so I wouldn’t have to go on a wild goose chase.”
Quotable Quotes
- Callie: “George has become a sex machine... A
machine of sex!!”
- Derek: “Rumor has it you're headed back to New
York.”
Mark:
“Where did you hear that?”
Derek:
“Good news travels fast.”
- Izzie: “Life is short, George. Life is
short and it sucks a lot of the time, but if being with Callie makes you happy, then go be with Callie.” Loved this
one.
- Cristina: “I was right. I swear I really believe
what I did was right. I don't want you to forgive me. Frankly, I'd find it patronizing if you did. Because... while I know
I was right, you think I'm wrong. Which doesn't matter...because... I'm in this. I'm in this for the long haul. And I'm in
this to finish the race. So if that means I don't win this one, then fine. I don't win. You win. I'm talking. See? I'm talking
first. You win.”
Preston: “Marry me.” Brilliant.
- George: “I don't want to waste another minute.”
Callie:
“I can't have sex with you again, George. Ok? I can't- I just- I- Enough with the sex.”
Some Final Notes (There are a lot. Sorry.)
- What did the opening scene with Bailey staring
at nothing mean? Is that when she came up with the idea of a free clinic?
- I loved the dinner scene when Cristina is eating
cereal while Burke, Derek, and Meredith eat a beautiful meal on the table.
- Callie was going psycho with all the sex she
was having. She didn’t know her legs could bend the way they do. She needs time to heal. Izzie tells George that he
broke her vagina.
- Izzie seeing George have an erection was hysterical.
Katherine Heigl doesn’t need to use words; her facial expressions tell you everything you need to know.
- The Amish storyline was brilliant. There were
so many great things that cam eout of this story. I loved the opening scene with the two parents just shocked when watching
the mayhem in the ER. Supposedly, the Amish walk at a slow pace.
- Jillian and Rachel’s storyline was great.
Rachel was shunned by the Amish community, but Jillian wants an Amish funeral. What a stunning story. Hopefully she’ll
get the peace she deserves.
- From the words of Cristina Yang: “talking
first is for losers.”
- Watching Bailey and Shepherd wrestle for who
was going to speak to the Chief in the elevator was great. Bailey can outmuscle anyone.
- Alex and Meredith’s case, Jim, had bed
soars. Mark Sloan was feeling like an ass today.
- I loved the Callie and Cristina conversations.
Cristina tells her they’re not friends and Callie says she hates Cristina. All is well.
- Alex wants to talk to Addison about the kiss.
Here I thought he wanted more; he doesn’t.
- I forgot to mention Steve the athlete’s
storyline with the huge legs. That was fun.
- Meredith is the chatty type, telling the whole
hospital that the chief is retiring.
- Bailey told Burke he owes her. He cut her off
from his surgeries. He does owe her.
This felt like the premiere for the rest of the season. This show is non-stop action. I love it. 3 stars for the whole
episode and 5 stars for the last five minutes making it four stars.
