Now this episode was much better. I’m also kind of
understanding the Gizzie thing now. It was inevitable. I’m just glad George decided to stay with Callie. As for the
episode, very nice. This felt like the standard really good Grey’s episode—sort
of the Grey’s we fell in love with. Really good.
Obviously the George and Izzie storyline was the forefront
of the episode. It was handled well I thought. The writers added a bit of comedy to the mix making George completely forget
about the night they had. How do you forget a night with Katie Heigl? It’s
obvious that Izzie has feelings for George. I don’t think it’s the kind of feelings that will lead to love though.
These two were having an off-and-on relationship this whole time. He was angry at her; she was angry at him. They’re
best friends in the end and it’s inevitable to have feelings for your opposite gendered hot best friend.
George doesn’t feel the same was Izzie does. Izzie
loves him. She was hurt that he couldn’t remember what happened. He forgot about the best sex he had ever had. All throughout
the episode, Izzie couldn’t understand why he forgot. Only when he really gets close to Callie does he remember. Now
that’s interesting. You would think that when he decides to man-up to her father that his focus was on her. Why did
he remember about that night at that point?
Callie couldn’t be happier for her husband. He finally
chose to take responsibility for her even though these two would have to scrape to get by. Callie is making a resident’s
salary and George is making an intern’s salary. That ain’t a lot. If
this marriage does survive the Izzie plague, where else can the show go with this storyline? Personally, I enjoyed Callie
much more when she was George’s girlfriend. She never used to expect anything from him. As a husband, she expects things
from George. We all know that beneath the surface he’s fallen short of all her expectations. When the truth of last
night comes out (it definitely will), Callie will not forgive him.
Finally, Derek was given some screen time. I really appreciated
the fact that his scenes didn’t involve him running like a lackey behind Meredith. He’s really concerned for her
and he can’t get over the fact that she didn’t swim. Meredith might think that this whole discussion is over,
but it’s not. Derek almost lost her and I don’t think Meredith understands how much this affected her McDreamy.
It keeps him thinking ‘did I do something wrong?’ Of course, Derek wouldn’t say anything to her. His scene
with Dr. Webber was very emotional. He just watches her sleep—breathe—because he doesn’t want her to stop.
He wants to be ready in case she “gives” up again.
This
came into effect when he tried to protect her from Sloane. He knew Mark was trying to set her up. This scenario was a win-win
situation for him. I completely understand why he would try and look out for her. Why shouldn’t he? He knows Mark’s
tricks. We all do by now. Meredith obviously misunderstood his concern, but this
has been bothering him and it might have cost him the job of chief. Maybe.
The
search for the next chief of surgery is still going on and it doesn’t look like we have a clear winner any time soon.
Or do we? Yeah, Mark’s definitely going to get it. I have this feeling…I just do. Since the writers are one hundred
percent serious about this, does that mean the Richard Webber is in fact leaving the show? I really like the actor. Interestingly
enough, he doesn’t want Marlowe to win. Didn’t he bring him in? I thought
Addison would have made
a good chief, but she’s going to have her own show so that’s not going to happen. Derek looks like a mess. Burke
doesn’t deserve it. So this is all between Marlowe and Sloane. Oh brother.
Another
interesting story involved Cristina and Burke. You can tell that she’s not happy with the way things are. She wants
to them to be the way they were: she wants to sneak into scrub rooms and have sex, she wants to get coffee in the morning,
she doesn’t want to have to think of a wedding…and all that stuff. She tells Burke she wants it simple. She doesn’t
want a veil (I cracked up when she said this) and she wants a small party. That’s it. Burke on his side doesn’t
want to move backwards. He likes to think that he’s gotten stronger and better since the tremor situation. We’ll
see about that.
Dear Diary
Izzie: We agreed to forget
about this night even if I really have feelings for him. I really do. I know he does. We were just sitting on the bench in
the locker rooms and I can see how much he was worried to hurt Callie. I get that. It’s just…we have a great thing
here. I know he cares about Callie, but he just doesn’t you know. The weirdest thing was that he forgot that we had
sex. How could he have forgotten? Now we’re both going to forget about it. I promised him I wouldn’t tell anyone.
No one can now.
George: I couldn’t
just cheat on Callie. It wouldn’t be fair. I’ve put her through so much. I was the one who proposed. I was the
one who only got my act together in the end. I can’t just break her heart now. I just promised to take care of her.
I said we would pay for the house together. How? That was a smart thing to say I think. Callie was so proud to see me stand
up to her father. He really responded well so now they want us to have a party. That sounds great doesn’t it? Really
great.
Today’s Baileyisms
-
“You want me to do your homework for
you because I’m not busy enough?”
-
“You need to get out of my way right
now because I got to get to work.”
Quotable Quotes
-
Cristina: “No one needs to hear George’s
rendition of “sexyback” at 3:00 in the morning.”
-
Cristina: “‘Be kind. Rewind.’
My plan has a name.”
-
Mark: “I’m that good.”
Addison: “He is. It’s annoying.”
-
Cristina: “Uh sir? Did you go to medical
school? I did. Take off your sock.”
-
Addison (to Mark): “Obviously, you’re
a man whore.”
-
Addison: “What am I like the go-to person for adultery?”
-
Addison: “God wanted you to be an adulterer?” Loved this one.
- Izzie: “God got a virgin pregnant
by magic, God isn't playing by the rules.”
- George: “I was drunk, I'm sure I
didn't mean whatever I said or did.”
Izzie:
“Yes George, you meant it. You meant it many times.”
- Derek: “People just—”
Webber: “Drown.” So true.
- Callie: “If we open her up, she’s
dead.”
Burke: “If we don’t, she’s dead.” What do you do then?
- Cristina: “I don’t want to get married
with a mosquito net on my face.”
- Meredith: “Dead mommy’s proud.”
Some Final Notes
- Mr. Kendry’s story was interesting and
I thought about it last night. It must be really hard to have an amputated arm or leg. It’s funny how we take all these
bodily functions for granted.
- I loved the Mrs. Rogersen’s storyline.
Again, it must be really hard to be a statue. I loved the stuff they did with Nina, her daughter. She became the disease’s
puppet going hysterical over every little thing done wrong to her mom.
- Jane Doe’s story this week involved her
choosing a face. She chose Ava. Alex was great to have given a life to each face. He really had changed.
- Marlowe presented a ten-year plan to the board.
That got everyone jealous.
- Callie was wearing pearls to greet her father.
- Marlowe asked to come to Cristina’s wedding.
This guy knows how to get under someone’s skin.
- I can’t believe Mark stole from Bailey’s
idea of the “right now.” This guy is just too much. That just proves Bailey should be chief.
- Mark at first wanted to give swag.
- I loved the scene where Izzie chats with Addison
about her sex with George.
- I’m glad Izzie and George didn’t
kiss in the Linens closet. That would have ruined it for me.
- Callie’s mom is going to plan a party.
- Mark said he gave Meredith the shot so she could
be a surgeon again.
- Jane Doe wanted to know if there was anything
between Addison and Alex. If Jane Doe interedted in Alex. And no, there’s nothing going to happen sadly.
- Meredith says Ellis would have been proud of
her.
- Why did Izzie take off her sheets like that?
What does it mean? Maybe she’s just doing laundry.
- I loved Meredith’s voice-over about “plans”
and how they have to change. That they have to.
- The song title “My Favourite Mistake”
is a song sung by Sheryl Crow.
Nice one. 4 stars
