Time after time, I’m disappointed with Grey’s Anatomy. Shonda, what’s going on? Ever since the stellar ferry boat crisis, the show has just
been going downhill. It has its good moments, but I haven’t been satisfied with these last three episodes. The Gizzie
thing was a complete disaster and Hannah’s arrival to the hospital just felt underwhelming.
I always thought the writers were excited about this plotline.
Is it me or did it just lack a bit of ooomph? I would have thought they were going to keep this story for the fourth season.
There’s been way too much going on already this season. The writers kind of ruined the story for me. In addition, I
would have thought that the Hannah storyline would have been stretched out over a few episodes. This is why I thought it would
have worked to have it play out next season. Also, why does she have to have leukemia? It
seems every family intern of an intern is going to get sick eventually.
Izzie and George = need to be separated. I was just getting
nauseous watching George dress Izzie. He sort of redeemed himself in my books when he stop being a baby about his affair with
Izzie and came back for her. Up until that point, I wanted to hit him. I understand why she needs him though: George is someone
Cristina and Meredith are not. He didn’t leave when she asked him too. He even gave Bailey some attitude when she scolded
him.
The one scene that helped this week’s situation was
the window scene. With Izzie in the wheelchair, George is watching Hannah and telling the hurt mother who her daughter is.
This is easily secured its spot as the best scene of the night. There weren’t
many others to choose from. I felt bad for Izzie when she found out Hannah didn’t want to see her. That was slightly
rude don’t you think? The Kleins could have made Hannah see Izzie; she was saving their daughter.
Am I the only one who is worried for Derek? He looks horrible.
His obsession for the position of Chief is clouding his judgment and pushing Meredith away (or soon will.) This is going to
be McDreamy’s big decision: his love or his job. Is he planning on breaking up with Meredith? Ignoring Meredith’s
phone call seems to be cluing into something. This is the time to get scared. I don’t think Meredith can handle another
break-up. I don’t think any of us can.
The fake mommy stuff is starting to get tiresome too. I mean
come on. WE GET IT. Meredith has mother issues. But seriously, it’s time she warms up to Susan. I would love it if my
mother stocked my fridge up every week. Did you see Alex’s face when he saw all the groceries? It was like heaven for
him. That would have been for me too. Here’s why I still haven’t totally given up on Shonda. As soon as she sees
her storylines get kind of ridiculous, she changes her tactics. It seems Susan and Meredith are finally going to get along.
It’s about time. I still think Shonda can fix the Gizzie thing.
As for Cristina, she provided the laughs this week. How totally
hysterical to have her try on different coloured nail polish on each finger? I was in tears when she asked Marlowe how he
liked the coral. We also got a nice dose of “nice and sweet” Cristina. That was a nice change. I couldn’t
help but laugh when she literally wrapping herself around Burke during a consult to make Marlowe jealous. He finally got the
hint though as he took off from Seattle. He came back for her and he says she’s no longer who he thought she was. He says she compromises herself.
Cristina has definitely changed though. She cares about others
now and this was proven when she asked Burke a question she already knew the answer to. It’s
weird to see her not acting like a know-it-all. Marlowe talks about this. He can’t understand what has happened
to the girl he once loved. A lot has changed and I’m loving the fact she’s going to get married.
It’s funny because the second I saw Addison and Webber
dancing, I forgot about how much of a disappointment the episode had been. Does everyone now see why Addison
needs her own show; it’s because she’s too good to be a supporting actress. But poor Webber. He’s trying
so hard to protect Meredith because he promised Ellis he would do so. And the wingman stuff was interesting. Mark tried to
be Webber’s wingman. He’s trying to get him laid so he can promote him to Chief. Mark is a smart guy.
The Ava stuff was also very expected. Like seriously, I felt
cheated when Mrs. Waring ran off crying because she realized Ava isn’t her daughter. I perfectly understand what Ava
is going through though. I get why she yelled at Alex. She feels frustrated. She was so prepared to go home with her parents
and finally get her memories back. Alex ran out though. I did feel bad.
Dear Diary
Meredith: She’s like
a sticky glue that just won’t get ripped off. Susan is always looking for me. This whole thing is new for me though.
Why is she expecting so much from me? This overprotective mommy stuff is new for me. So whatever, she passed by and we spoke
about it. She just wants to be in my life. She told me it’s her fault my father never came after me. I guess I can give
her a try.
Izzie: I saw my daughter.
She was here at the hospital. She has leukemia. I never thought I’d see her like this. I just thought stuff would go
differently. Her parents wanted a bone marrow transplant. I was a good match. But she didn’t want to see me. And I never
thought she would want that. And George stayed with me during the day even if he was the one who told me he didn’t wanna
see me. I don’t know how we’re doing the both of us.
Today’s Baileyisms
-
“Oh look I can’t talk to you when
you’re making all that noise, so get it together and get out here. Now.”
-
“All of this means nothing if you’re
alone.”
Quotable Quotes
-
Derek: “I came here to be chief,
but Meredith complicates that.”
- Cristina: “You've never played chess?”
Meredith: “I'm not a geek!”
- Meredith: “You've got stuff on your hands.”
Cristina: “I'm trying to scare away cardio-god.”
Meredith: “With pretty, pretty fingers?” I loved this one. Meredith looked horrified.
- Chief (to Mark): “You think that if you get me laid, I'll let you become chief.”
- Cristina: “You’re gonna have to put
up with me being nice and sweet for a little while.”
Burke: “That will be a nice change.”
Cristina: “Shut up.”
Burke: “That’s more like it.”
- Cristina: “I’m thinking coral.”
I died of laughter.
- Meredith: “I might have scared away my
fake mommy forever.” I love when she uses that term.
- Marlowe (to
Cristina): “You’ve compromised yourself.”
- Susan: “But just stop being so rude.”
- Addison: “I mean Mark’s right—I
mean he’s wrong about so many things, but he’s right about this.”
Some Final Notes
- Izzie went to confession in the morning. She
actually started feeling better about herself until her daughter showed up.
- Callie looked horrible all throughout the episode.
She’s definitely pissed that George blew her off.
- Bailey was amazing as she took time off work
to sit and help Izzie through her crisis. Bailey rocks.
- I loved the scenes where Burke and Marlowe tried
outperforming each other in front of their patients. Then Marlowe crossed the line when he embarrassed Burke in front of everyone.
- Derek wants the Chief’s vote. Is he going
to get it?
- Ava was so happy when she saw her face. That
was a nice moment.
- The scene where George dresses Izzie was kind
of awkard.
- Katherine was really good this week. I loved
the scene where she’s crying alone in her room. That was a powerful moment.
- George didn’t tell Callie about Izzie even
if she already knows.
- Meredith was content with leaving Susan out in
the cold. That was hysterical.
- I died laughing when Webber chocked when he found
out that the girl he was talking to was in med school.
- Addison dancing with the Chief was a great moment.
- “Time after Time” is a song by Cindy
Lauper.
Below average. 2 ½ stars. The writers have to up their game.
