Firstly, I love the title. Get it? Lockdown as in Locke.
Secondly, I loved the episode. Thirdly, I loved the ending. Everything about this episode made absolute sense. The writers
finally let the countdown clock reach “0”. And so a beautiful blue map lit up on a wall of the hatch. I paused
the episode and I have no idea what that thing means.
Locke was “lockedowned” in the hatch during some
sort of lockdown. I really enjoyed the flashbacks this week as it brought an end (it sure seems like it) to Katey Sagal’s
character’s appearance on the show. She hasn’t died; she just took off. Just when Locke was able to move on though,
his father comes back from the dead to haunt him one more time. I didn’t see that coming. You’d think after so long I’d be able to keep up.
Locke’s father is the type of person who will only
fight for his own well-being. He’s selfish and self-obsessed. You saw the effects of this as no one even showed up at
his funeral. Doesn’t surprise me. Who was he to ask Locke to take money out
of the bank for him and risk Helen’s safety? Of course, Locke didn’t have to do it, but that’s the kind
of person he is. I really enjoyed the story though. You would never have thought Locke to be a criminal. I’m glad he
decided to not keep the money. That’s a Locke thing to do.
It’s like he told his father: he didn’t do this
whole thing for the money. I personally don’t know why he did it, but that’s besides the point. Anthony Cooper
got his second chance to make right with his son; he decided to screw him over. I have no respect for a man like that. Locke
should not have wasted his time and energy trying to help a man like that.
Island Locke was in a bit of a sticky situation as he got
stuck between the blast doors. He courageously got it opened until the door closed on his legs. Thankfully Henry was there
to help. I was actually starting to like him there. Shame on me. I’m guessing
it was really hard for Locke to just lie there and hope Henry got to the button in time. I loved when he tells Henry that
he’s happy he didn’t abandon him. This is where I was completely lost. Why didn’t Henry run away?
That was the perfect moment. I’m certain of a few things
now: 1) He’s definitely an Other based on the driver’s license Sayid found in the grave. 2) He must have been
sent front the Others to scope the place out. He probably thought that his whole alibi was secure. He didn’t take into
account the body buried inside. Now why is that? Why weren’t they more thorough? 3) The Losties definitely have a way
of getting to the Others now.
So what the HECK was that map about. I froze it and it seemed
like it looks like there are other hatches (of some sort) around the island. It also looks like in the center of this circle
of hatches, there’s something with a question mark on it. Why is there a question mark on it? Does that mean that it
doesn’t know what it is? That was a stupid question? I’ll bet you one
thing though. Locke is definitely going to go looking for these places. I can’t wait.
In addition to the map, why did the lockdown happen? I’m
assuming in happened because they dropped the food. Someone dropped the Dharma food. Does that mean that the experiments are
still active? I’m assuming letting the people in the hatch receive the food while it’s being dropped would start
initiate a connection with the outside world. I need answers now.
Spotlight on…Locke
-
Locke has hidden an engagement ring into a
pair of socks. Locke wants to take Helen on a picnic. Helen meanwhile reads the obituaries and sees Locke’s father’s
name inside. Anthony Cooper died.
-
They go to the funeral. Locke tells his dead
father that he forgives him. He notices a car drive off.
-
Locke is a home inspector. He is inspecting
a woman’s home. He sees the same car. He approaches the car. His father is the driver. They go and talk at a restaurant.
He didn’t really die. He set it up. Two men were pursuing him because he stole 700 grand from them. He wants Locke to
get the money from his bank. He’ll give him 200 grand in exchange.
-
Locke goes to the back. He gets the money.
The two men come to see Locke at his house. They don’t think his father really died. They want to check his bag. There’s
nothing in there. He fooled them.
-
Locke goes to deliver the money to his father.
Locke tells his father he didn’t do all of this for the money. Helen followed Locke to the motel though. She wants to
leave him. He follows her and asks her to marry him. She says “no” and just leaves.
Tales from the Island
Locke: Henry turned out
to be completely fake. You would think that after all he did for me during the lockdown that he would turn out to be the real
thing. Sayid and Ana Lucia found a driver’s license though. They found one. It belongs to Henry Gale. Henry Gale is
dead. How does that happen you say? We don’t know. I promised him that I wouldn’t let the others hurt him. I’m
going to have to break my word now.
Quotable Quotes
