Clipping the Clip Shows
Start Your Week Off with the TV Watcher (April 2nd)

May sweeps are coming up and it’s time for all you tune-outers to get back into your favourite shows. They might just get better. Let’s face it. Some of our faves haven’t been completely up to par lately: 24, Grey’s Anatomy, Lost but it’s surging again…Anyway, long story short: we need to get caught up on the stuff we might have missed.

This is where the clip shows come in. I love these and I’m surprised why other networks don’t do the same thing ABC does. This is the last time you can get caught up before the shows go all out and take us on an endless roller coaster ride. ABC has in fact proved that it has the best marketing plan. It’s constantly coming up with innovative ideas to spread their tv shows.

Look around and the most talked about shows are Desperate Housewives, Lost, Grey’s Anatomy, Ugly Betty, Brothers and Sisters…ABC has been able to create popular shows that have amassed huge followings. Part of the brilliance of the network is its clip shows.

I love these episodes, especially if they’re done right. It’s great for old and new fans alike. The old ones get a compilation of scenes that have made us cry, laugh, smile, sometimes depressed…we get to reminisce about the years we spent watching these great shows. For new ones, they are introduced to events of the past season and concentrate on catching up to follow the future of the shows.

I cannot be any more excited for the Grey’s Anatomy clip show narrated by Denny Duquette. Jeffrey Dean Morgan is back!!! Creating a hype about a clip show is just genius. I for one am tuning in. Hey, it’s a new episode of Grey’s Anatomy. You know what that means: I’m watching.

A clip show I’d definitely watch would be 24. I’ll admit it: I’ve given up on it. The show has gotten ridiculous, but 24 has a tendency to just RIP IT. The finales are usually insane and if there was a clip show, I would start watching again. FOX’s and CBS’s serial shows have never survived. They need to keep the shows alive by showing this to the public.

I’ll definitely be tuning in to the clip shows. I’ve forgotten what happened in the fall. And I really learn to appreciate the genius behind the clip shows. It makes sense and they should definitely be promoted more.
