What lies ahead for Veronica
Mars? Will it be the privilege of a fourth season? Or will it be a depressing end to a show that had critics raving these
past three years? Because when you think about it, the critics were the only people watching. And we, the many few viewers
haven suffered through sleepless nights wondering whether our show would make it out alive?
It’s a dog pound out there. Each show, each network
is trying to rip each other up. The strongest shows come out on top and the weakest just die out. Is it natural selection
or just our stupidity? How can we allow American Idol to thrive when a show like VMars struggles week after week? It pains
me to look at the ratings every Wednesday. I can’t stand it.
But why is it that Veronica Mars can’t make it out
alive? For starters, it’s on The CW—a network that can’t establish itself. It invests more in ridiculous
shows like America’s Next Top Model and The
Search for the Next Pussycat Doll? Whatever happened to quality programming?
Secondly, the show is misunderstood. It’s constantly
thought to be a teen-bopper show. It’s so much more than that. It features an amazing cast with Kristen Bell and Enrico
Colantoni leading the way. The show focuses on the relationship between father and daughter. It’s a strong natural relationship
that deserves out eyes.
Thirdly, the ratings just can’t withhold the show anymore.
It’s really quite sad. Pussycats got an additional I think 1.8 million viewers.
How is that possible? Veronica just can’t retain the Gilmore Girls audience.
I would have thought these two shows to be a perfect fit. I guess not. It’s funny though. The episode right before the
winter break, Spit and Eggs, was one of the highest rated episodes. I don’t
get why the audience wasn’t interested in tuning back in.
Please, tune in for the next batch of episodes of Veronica Mars. There is never a moment where you could be disappointed. Until the cancellation becomes official,
I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
