Rat Saw Good
Episode 2.6

Keith lost the election. I should have seen that coming. I just hate seeing Keith losing to Lamb. It really bothers me. This episode was basically done to tie up a lot of loose ends from last season and of course asking us some new questions. Abel Koontz made a special return…and died. That was too bad.

It just seems like a terrible waste to me. Abel Koontz spent all that time in jail just to have his daughter run away and waste her money. It just seems sad. All Abel wanted was to see her one last time before he died. This is where Veronica came in. He wanted her to find her and she did. Amelia was dead. That really spoiled my evening. It had a good effect, but I didn’t want to see her die. I’m glad Veronica told a little white lie. She had to. She realized that. Abel would have lived his last days saddened by his daughter’s death. This way, he can live his last two days happy. He knows his daughter is eager to see him before he dies. That’s the way someone wants to die. I particularly loved Veronica sticking around and holding his hand for the night. He might have been a shady character (and maybe a villain), but he affected Veronica. Honestly, I didn’t think Veronica would stick around and just be there for him. That was a pleasant surprise. I’m cynical. I know.

Logan is having a very bad week. He went back to jail, saw his father for the first time in a while, and got his house burned down. That’s wonderful. I just love whenever Logan and Lamb are in a scene together. They crack me up. I thought Logan went a bit too far buying out Weevil’s grandmother’s house and evicting her. I know Weevil burned his house down, but that was just low. What’s the old lady going to do?

Aaron’s speech to his son made me gag. He really is a good actor. He actually dared to try and make up with Logan. I’m all for a strong father-son relationship, but he is not a father. I couldn’t even believe Aaron’s attempt to pin the whole thing on Duncan. He is guilty and we all know it. Logan mentioned that Aaron tried to kill both his girlfriends. We forgot he almost tried to kill Veronica. Was she considered his girlfriend at that point?

We saw a very different side to Keith this week. He freaked me out. Keith might be all fatherly and gentle, but he can also be scary and vicious. He made things clear to Aaron: he met him just to prove how easy it is to get close to him. A father looking out for his daughter is the scariest creature in the world. Aaron really felt the heat of that threat. Keith means business.

Was that a dead rat taped to the seat? Why? For starters, I can’t look at rats. Whenever I’ve seen a rat in any episode of any series, I can’t help but turn away. They gross me out. Is this rat a message of some sort? If it is a message, what’s the message? I just got it! That’s what stank in the bus. That’s what Dick was talking about. I am on a roll.

The Bus Crash Files

-          The bus has been lifted out of the lake. Inside, there was a dead rat taped to a seat.

Quotable Quotes

-          Sacks: “Sheriff would like to see you.”

Logan: “And I would like to be the cream filling of an Olsen-twin sandwich.” Really?

-          Veronica (voice-over): “Dad’s very concerned about fact-finding trips abroad.” I would have never guessed.

-          Veronica (to Clarence): “What are you the head of again? This is it. I would think helping your little billionaire boss cover up his daughter’s murder would have gotten you a better office…or a plaque.”

-          Dick: “Is it a crime now to kill a Mexican?” That’s pushing it.

-          PCHer: “My brother asked me if it’s true that PCH stands for Painting Club for Homos.”

-          Veronica (voice-over): “Okay, so now I know two things: where Amelia was two days ago and why I never heard of Waverly, California.” That place just looks plain ugly.

-          Aaron: “You think I had something to do about the crash? You are priceless Keith. If they gave you enough press, you’d put me in the Grassy Knoll.”

-          CW: “You know the drill, Veronica. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.”

-           Cliff: “Okay, my name is Cliff. I'll be your if-you-cannot-afford-an-attorney attorney.”

-          Cliff: “I owe you? Who unconfiscated all your fake college IDs?”
Veronica: “Who got the
Lincoln out of your ex's name?”
Cliff: “Well, who helped put that lien against Lee's Walk-In Donut?”
Veronica: “And who proved that stripper was colorblind?” Best ones of the night.

Some Final Notes

-          Logan requested to be arrested “officially.” I didn’t know there was any other way.

-          Forty-nine percent of Neptune still supports Keith.

-          Amelia was last seen by her “boyfriend” in Ibiza.

-          I liked Cliff begging Logan to get a real lawyer. Cliff is one of the best characters they have.

-          Wallace is still refusing to contact Veronica. At this point, he has to suck it up and call her back.

-          No Jackie this week. Yay!

-          Joss Whedon guest-starred as the car-rental employee of the month.

-          I still can’t believe the PCHers burned down Logan’s house.

-          Lamb is an ass. I should have known he would try and cause a wedge between father and daughter. He told Keith about the Curly.

-          How can there be that many paintings in one cheap motel room? That was a bit of a stretch?

-          Also, how is Veronica able to surf the internet in the middle of nowhere.

-          Good story on Veronica’s part about Amelia being in the Himalayas.

-          Logan is living with Duncan now. That’s going to be weird for Veronica.

Really good. 4 stars
