My Mother, the Fiend
Episode 2.9

Lianne sure is a fiend alright. Sorry, I meant friend. What a difference a single letter can make. Although Lianne became a duplicitous Irina Derevko-like woman, I’m happy she was at least a civilized teenager. Veronica is also happy to hear that. We got some jaw-dropping moments that made me want to scream. I also got to see the beautiful Celeste one more time. It was beautiful.

Is it just me, or were there a lot of babies on this week? Duncan and Veronica are raising their “school project,” Trina got dumped in the school bathroom on prom night and Meg is PREGNANT!!! I didn’t see that one coming. How long has she been unconscious? How did she get so big? Is that why her parents aren’t there? They would probably opt to kill the baby. Why did I say that?

I’m glad Trina turned out to be a different person. She isn’t some ridiculous slutty actress, but a real person. She really does like Logan. Watching her poke fun at Kendall was great. I find everyone’s out to get Kendall though. Works for me. I found it ironic that Trina’s mother was the school’s deaf lunch lady. Although she had all the money she ever needed, Trina would have turned out a better person if she had stayed with Mary. When she finally realizes that Trina is her daughter, Mary ran to meet her. That reunion was priceless. It makes you wonder how many of these stories really do exist. Mary has a worthless job; she has nothing going for her. Then, when she finally sees her daughter again, she is a different person. I’m shocked to find out that Principal Moorehead is Trina’s father. That’s a clever twist and something I hardly expected.

Out of all of this though, the thing that hits me the most is how likeable Lianne turned out to be. Sure, she isn’t perfect. But she isn’t satanic either. She befriends the school reject. Day after day, she would sit with Mary at lunch. Lianne had a huge impact on Mary’s life. To this day, Mary still remembers her kindness and her generosity. I’m happy Veronica got the closure she wanted.

Another good thing happened this week. The press still believes that Trina is Celeste’s daughter and the more media attention around the Kane family, the better. I jumped when I say Celeste walk into the hotel room while Veronica was so “beautifully” complimenting her. I would have just insulted Duncan’s mother in front of him, but that’s me. I tend to cut to the chase. For all I care, she can take Duncan back to Napa with her. It would be my pleasure. I’m sick of this stupid relationship. I’m sure Duncan knows Meg is pregnant. He has been there every day. Does her pregnancy have anything to do with the letter in the vents?

The boys punched each other out; the boys will now work together. I cannot be more excited about this new arrangement between Logan and Weevil. They are secretly going to work together to figure out who killed Felix. Isn’t that a job for Veronica? I’m just saying.

The Bus Crash Files

-          Keith has kept the rat in his freezer. Veronica thinks it was a message for her. She was the rat.

Quotable Quotes

-          Mrs. Hauser: “I haven’t had my coffee. Intrude on my personal space at your own risk.” What a spaz.

-          Ms. Hauser: “Find a partner, pick a baby.”
Veronica: “Aren't we supposed to have a shot of tequila first?” So true.

-          Veronica (staring at tied-up Weevil): “Here’s lesson number one kid: what goes around comes around.”

-          Moorehead: “I see that Mr. Clemmons is failing in his prime directive.”

Veronica: “What’s that?”

Moorehead: “Keeping you out of my face.”

-          Mrs. Murphy: “You always ask to go to the bathroom this period.”
Logan: “I know. It's that twelve-pack I slam at lunch. It goes right through me.”

-          Trina: “The play is my master and I am its whore.”

-          Mac: “Chics dig scars and acronyms.” Is that flirting I see happening?

-          Veronica (to Clemmons): “You read Machiavelli this summer.”

Some Final Notes

-          Cassidy is using his trust fund money to open his old business. He has hired Kendall to be his representative. This should be interesting.

-          It’s official: Duncan did sleep with Kendall. That’s good. It’s just another reason why Veronica shouldn’t be with him.

-          These sex-ed assignments are stupid. I loved watching Veronica slam her baby around. I can’t believe I just said that.

-          Clemmons followed up on Veronica’s break-in into his office. He was just doing it to get what he needed though. Veronica played into his hands. Isn’t it usually the other way around?

-          Weevil getting hung on the flagpole was fitting. That’s his trademark.

-          Thumper and the PCHers are losing respect for Weevil. I sense he’s going to be overthrown soon.

-          Mac has a crush on Cassidy. That’s sweet. Anything for more Mac will do.

-          We met Celeste’s “slave” Astrid. I really thought she was Celeste’s daughter. Another clever twist.

-          I laughed when Trina said she wanted the rumours published. Anything to get her more publicity.

-          Meg is pregnant. And SHE JUST WOKE UP!!!

Very good. 4 stars
