Okay, this is what I call a stand-alone mystery. Not that
other ridiculous crap we were watching the past two episodes. If this is going to become a trend, then they’re really
going to have to up the ante with these episodes. This one, I loved. It worked and it just beautifully sets up what might
be happening in the summer for our favourite characters.
Veronica just continues to amaze me. You know, you’d
think that she would have developed some sort of selfless attitude after these years on the job. She helps people all day,
but she still hasn’t learned to sympathize with anyone, let alone care for anyone. I couldn’t believe her obnoxious
attitude when she learned she got the internship. I mean seriously, wake up and look around you. The guy that loves you is
right there waiting to sacrifice everything for you. I thought I was the only blind
one.
Okay, I can understand Piz not meaning anything to Veronica.
Fine. But she takes things for granted. Piz was going to decline his internship in New
York so he could stay closer to Veronica.
But now, she completely shoves it in his face that she was accepted into the FBI. A responsible and kind person would have
told Piz that she had applied and that he should go for what was best for him. Veronica, what’s up lately?
Similarly to her, Logan also selfishly
pursues his plans in order to enjoy a pleasure-full surfing trip. I think what Veronica told Parker about that being Logan to be completely true. It was coming from the wrong person of course. They
learned from each other. I’m assuming that this relationship will soon be thrown out the window to make room for
the LoVe connection in the possible series finale. (I’m writing this the night before the CW Upfronts so anything could
have happened when you read it.)
Like Billie Doux stated, the writers must be preparing for
the end as they brought back a lot of old characters. Although I didn’t care about Dick Sr., I did care about how much
Beaver’s death affected Dick. The guy is great at hiding his inner emotions, but the sight of his dad just made him
melt down. It must be hard for him to walk by the very room where Cassidy was staying in and the very building he committed
suicide. He has blamed himself all this time for his death. He used to compete with his dad on who could make him cry first.
We tend to ignore that when he look at a criminal. Powerful stuff.
And then, of course, the Fitzpatricks returned and kind of
began to tie the knots up. Liam came back to find out what had happened to Kendall that night. Keith’s
answer was short and simple: not your business. The money inside the suitcase did not belong to him. End of story. I can bet
that Keith will go after the Fitzpatricks once and for all by the end of the finale. I can feel it.
I also enjoyed where the writers are taking Mac. She’s
finally experiencing what it’s like being in the real world. She’s learning that she’s going to have to
stick up for the people she loves even when they make stupid decisions. That’s the way things work. She can’t fix everything with a keyboard and a mouse. I like her relationship with Max and I just hope he
wouldn’t get so obsessed with this business. Too many college students end up thinking they have a really great job.
So they quit school. Then they realize they have nothing. Not good.
I looooved the “Soldier of Misfortune” story
and I thought it was just brilliant how Apollo Bukenya got around to manipulating Veronica. I knew they couldn’t leave
him be a fraud; he had to be a good guy. I’m just glad he finally got to meet his father. I also loved how the actors
gave a shout-out to “Invisible Children.” It’s celebrities like these and more powerful who have the fame
to make a difference. Well done.

Some Final Notes
-
Veronica and Piz had some nice moments together,
but nothing was very physical. Just some cuddling and studying.
-
Veronica passed the PI exam. She’s officially
a private detective. She thought she beat her father but he got 97%. He’s not going to let her forget it. That made
him so happy.
-
I loved the character of Buckenya. I loved
how he played Veronica, hoping to find real people he trusted.
-
Keith went after Liam after a series of burglaries.
I thought I’d be liking the sheriff stories much better, but I don’t.
-
Is Wallace really going to go to Uganda? That can change some things up for the characters.
-
I found it so weird to see Cliff working against
Cliff. That’s what happens.
-
Logan had dinner with Parker’s parents. Did it go well?
-
Buckenya carried a shopping list his mother
gave him the last time he saw her.
-
Max is making $1,500 a week. That’s
amazing.
-
Dick has to spend his summer with his father
now. How great.
-
Kizza, Buckenya’s father, drives a cab
in New York City. I don’t understand when he left Uganda though. Why did he leave Buckenya behind?
-
And now Veronica is in the FBI. This is going
to be amazing.
Solid. 4 stars
