The Solution
Episode 1.20

Beautifull. I loved this episode and I can really feel the end of this season coming. It came too fast. Go away, go away! I want more. I loved the cliffhanger and I’m glad Will’s back on the case. His life got boring for awhile. Now he’s teamed up with Jack. That’s nice. Sydney also took matters into her own hands and decided to pull Khasineau out of hiding. We got some Sark this week and a great fight scene between him and Sydney.

This Khasineau plotline is really thickening and I can really see the closing line. Sydney is close and she wants this. She’s looking for her mother and Khasineau is the key. She wants him. Come to think of it, everyone wants Khasineau. He’s really got to stop pissing everyone of. I thought Sydney’s plan to use the Rambaldi ampoule as bait was ingenious. That was the one thing that Khasineau needed—and the CIA had it. They used black-market resources to get the rumors spreading, and it all paid off. The information happened to flow to Khasineau. They were bang on. Sadly, Khasineau himself didn’t show, but Sark gladly accepted to meet with Sydney. She was disguised as a member of the Rislak Jihad, an Islam fundamentalist group. Following a heart-racing fight, Sydney and Sark went for the trade: diamonds for the ampoule. SD-6 had somehow learnt of this trade and Dixon intercepted the trade. Sark snuck the ampoule in his jacket pocket just in time. Could this cliffhanger have been any better? I wonder how Sydney is going to get out of this one. We shall see.

Sydney was very emotional during the first half of the episode. Her conversation with Vaughn in the blood donation trailer reminded me of the second episode. They were in the exact same position. She really was affected with Noah’s death. Personally, I have no sympathy. Noah was an assassin who deserved to die. Now, Syd obviously had strong feelings for him, but that’s no excuse. I expect more from her. Again, she was ready to quit the CIA. She sounded exhausted with her life. I loved the scenes where she was punching the punching bag. That’s terrible English. Sydney really started attacking that thing. It’s a great way to let your anger out. She even sounded a bit snappy when she got home and learnt that there were rats in her house. If she neglects her friends any more, she’ll end up with none. I’m glad she spoke with Francie about her night with Noah. Francie looked ecstatic when Syd was telling her this. Francie really likes speaking with Syd. I hope she doesn’t lose her.

Emily has always known about SD-6. It doesn’t surprise me. After thirty years, you’re bound to pick up things. Emily would overhear voice conversations and she deduced that her husband never left the world of intelligence. Sadly, Emily knows half the truth. She doesn’t know that her husband is a vicious sociopath who murders anyone who betrays him. He works for the bad guys, and she’ll never learn the truth. The Alliance has heard of this breach and are ready to execute Emily. That’s a shame.

Will is definitely back on the SD-6 story. His source, Deep-Throat, called him again and told him that Jack was the one who kidnapped him. Will went to confront Jack, and both are now on the same side. Jack has no idea who this man is, but he wants to find out. Will has written a story that will be published if ever he is found missing or killed. He can expose SD-6. That’s a scary thought.

Syd’s Tips

-          When searching for someone, try and draw this person out. Gain the advantage by using something this person wants.

Quotable Quotes

-          Sydney: “But the thing is, it affects me. Never knowing who to trust. Learning to expect betrayal. Plotting in secrecy and hatred and anger. It’s becoming a part of me. I am becoming what I despise.”

-          Sydney: “I’m more interested in revenge.”

-          Francie: “We need a professional. We need a hit man.” Loved this one.

-          Will: “I don’t live here.”

Sydney: “Why are you always here?”

Francie: “You don’t even pay rent.”

-          Emily: “My only regret is not telling [Arvin] how proud I am.” You wouldn’t be that proud if you knew the truth.

-          Francie (on Noah): “Hey if he calls, I’ll try and be nice, okay?”

-          Sloane: “Are you suggesting that I allow you to kill my wife to enhance my standing within the Alliance?”

Some Final Notes

-          I liked Francie’s war with the rats. She always adds some comedic relief.

-          When will Syd learn what Will’s been up to? My gut says it will be very soon.

-          Is Sydney ever going to catch Khasineau?

-          Vaughn was great in the field. He speaks fluent French.

-          Amy Irving was excellent. Poor innocent Emily. She has no idea what her husband’s really been up to this year?

-          Let’s take a poll. How many of you think that Sloane will kill his wife? I say he will.

-          Jack really pissed off Devlin. I like how he just barges into people’s houses in the middle of the night. Jack suspects Haladki being Will’s source. I hope he was.

This was a perfect episode. We’ve got two episodes left. Don’t end! Don’t end! 5 stars
