This was a fantastic episode. If I ever become a villain,
I would want that high-energy pulse Rambaldi artifact. That thing is at once the deadliest and most beautiful thing I have
ever seen—not what it does, but what it looks like. That scene in the church was heartbreaking. That’s a tough
thing to see.
I wonder how the writers got the rights to do something like
that. I mean, was that a real church they filmed in? Did the church’s negotiators just let them incinerate everyone
in there? To pull something off like that is unbelievable. Sydney was right. This is the worst thing she has ever seen. What I was even more surprised with was
Sloane’s willingness to give it up. I would think he’d want to keep that for himself. I’m assuming though
that the piece of manuscript he got in return to be much more valuable, right? It fit beautifully into the manuscript? What is the devil up to now? I will admit
though that I have never been as intrigued with Rambaldi as I am now. I want to know where exactly the writers are going to
take this plotline. This final artifact (I’m assuming that’s what he’s building), Sloane says, is going
to be bigger than SD-6, bigger than the Alliance ever was. Syd will take you down.
Dixon’s return
into the field might have been the best part of the episode. There is such a rich history between him and his partner. He
couldn’t just let her fend for herself out there in Kandahar. That’s the kind
of man Dixon is. He returned to the field to protect the person he loves; Sydney. Fighting for the good is important to him. It’s what’s the most important. I kind of didn’t like
Diane this week. Why was she going all crazy on Sydney? She needed some help. Dixon could
have spared a few minutes of his time for his friend. I actually wanted to slap her
at that point. But when Sydney was in trouble, Dixon was the first one there.
It’s great to have him back.
I loved all the scenes in Kandahar. Kabir was an interesting villain. Fueled only by his anger towards his ex-wife, he chose the location for the first
attack: a church. See, what I don’t get is why the artifact needed modern-day equipment to work? Why didn’t it
just work on its own? Did Rambaldi prophesize this?
I really enjoyed Will’s involvement this week. Is he
a full-time CIA analyst now? We’ve seen so little of him I’ve forgotten what he’s been to. I’m glad
that he’s finally being recognized now. I had to crack a smile when he completely humiliated those two Harvard professors
in front of the Bristows and Kendall. He isn’t scared of anything. He came
up with the brilliant idea to contact Alia Gizabi.
She gave them false intel though (not intentional). I just
enjoyed the torture scenes. If there’s one thing Jennifer Garner can do, except crying, is do a good torture scene.
Is that a good trait to have? This was a new type of method: USE SLOANE. I can’t
believe he actually kissed her. He actually touched her. She now has another reason to go after him.
Syd’s Tips
-
When being tortured, don’t give up any
information. Wait patiently. The agency will find you.

Quotable Quotes
-
Sydney: “The CIA has a hit list. 35 people worldwide its agent are allowed to
kill. 35 out of 6 billion. You’re one of them. Which means when I kill you, I won’t even be breaking the law.”
That’s cold Syd.
-
Syd (to
Sloane): “You jump, you die.”
-
Sydney: “I chose not to incinerate 300 people. Do you think I made the wrong
choice?”
-
Vaughn: “The Zamboni’s your favourite
part?”
Sydney: “No coming home with you is my favourite part. (They kiss) The Zamboni is a close second.”
-
Weiss: “He wants Sydney too. Are you with her?”
Vaughn: “I haven’t
seen her.”
Weiss: “You’re
in bed with her now aren’t you?” The guy is hysterical.
-
Jack: “Then do it.”
Marshall: “Please would be nice.” You don’t say that Marshall.
-
Sloane: “I’m a man with no country
and few alliances.”
-
Vaughn: “No suit huh?”
Will: “It’s
been a while since I tried it on. Or worked out. Which made me feel overwhelmed and fat.”
-
Vaughn: “You found court records?”
Will: “Yeah,
they were posted on the net.”
-
Will (to
Harvard professors): “I’ll get you that web address. You should check it out.” I love this guy.
-
Syd: “Every time we think we’ve
see the worst…”
Some Final Notes
-
Sark just smashed into Sydney’s car to get Sloane out. These guys are just amazingly good.
-
I loved how Marshall asked what kind of car Sydney was driving Sloane in because he wanted the same one.
-
Sydney loves the Zamboni at hockey games.
-
Vaughn heard his conversation with Syd in
his phone. Evil Francie’s technology wasn’t that good. Meanwhile, Evil Francie is hardcore shooting the plumber
to incriminate him.
-
Marshall made the bug that Evil Francie used and put his logo on it that looks like
Superman.
-
Will was brought in to make a presentation.
I liked how he used the argument that he’s a writer, not a speaker. We all use that excuse.
-
Kabir gave Sloane something called an Arhat.
Did he know what was inside that thing?
-
I can’t believe the neutron ball just
lit someone on fire. That’s unbelievable. It raises the temperature of everyone’s bodies until they just become
ashes.
-
I loved Marshall’s device that made Sydney invisible.
-
The CIA got the neutron weapon. Thank God.
Unbelievable. 5 stars
