Dead Drop
Episode 2.4

Spymomma is gone. Am I happy? The episode was amazing if that’s what you’re asking? Am I happy about spymomma’s departure? No. I’m going to miss her. I want her back in her cell. I wish dreams could really come true. No worries. Irina Derevko is part of the cast. She’ll be back in no time. I felt so bad watching her confused face as she was being carried out of her cell. Sydney also let out a few sobs. She ran for her dad who couldn’t be happier.

Jack was just terrible this week. He ran the risk of killing his daughter just to see Irina rot away in jail. Sydney was about to open the door. In any case, Jack crossed the line. I understand the pain he feels. He’s been betrayed by the woman he once adored. He’s been betrayed by his daughter’s mother. How else can he feel? I think Jack was right. No, I wouldn’t kill my wife. He’s right not to trust her. Everyone is falling blindly into her hands. Everyone is ignorant, as Jack points out. He knows this woman is an expert of manipulation, a pro of deception, and a queen of betrayal. She knows exactly what she wants and how to get it. This is what worries me. When Sydney learns the truth of her father’s involvement, she will run to her mother. Her mother will act like an innocent woman and the blame will be on Jack. Then, the bond that’s been forged between daughter and father will be broken.

Sydney’s reaction to her mother’s betrayal proves there was an ongoing connection developing between the two. She was starting to care for Irina. She felt what it was to have a mother. I personally don’t know why she wants that connection. She’s being naïve as well as stupid. I just hope Sydney doesn’t get hurt anymore when she finds out the truth. Furthermore, she still doesn’t know what her father did to her twenty years ago after her mom’s disappearance. There’s a lot of pain coming for the spyfam and I think it’s time for the truth to come out.

Vaughn is really starting to act like a brown-noser. Sydney knows she’s got him as a confidante so he doesn’t have to announce it so dramatically. I hate people like that. I had to express that frustration. That aside, he’s acting like a good sport. He’s agreed to stay on the Bristow case and he’s agreed to talk about Irina. Although he’s a brown-noser, I respect him. He joined the CIA for a reason. He’s good at putting his emotions aside and focusing on the matter at hand. For that I like him.

Will was about to fall back into trouble. What is it with this poor guy? Everyone wants to have his head. Sloane sent one of his agents to see whether Will was still a threat. Will is a great liar. He didn’t flinch and he didn’t stutter. He told the only truth he now knows. In a way, the real Will Tippin is dead. As he’s slowly settled into his new life, he’s become a better friend. He knows who Sydney really is now. It was great watching him say it openly. He really does he feel different. Does he feel better? Maybe. Does he enjoy this life more than his “previous” one? I think so.

Syd’s Tips

-          When being held at gunpoint, sound the alarm to distract your enemy. Then, disarm him and make a run for it.

Quotable Quotes

-          Vaughn: “So do you think Sloane suspects you?”

Sydney: “That I used the inhaler to corrode the music box? I don’t think so. Sloane made sure I knew how relieved he was that I had made it back safely. (Sloane hugs her) I went home and took a shower.”

-          Jack: “You’ve wanted a mother…your mother…all your life.”

-          Francie: “I expected a delivery guy to be totally buffed out. He sounded hot on the phone.”

Sydney: “Was he a cute 80?” Loved this one.

-          Richter: “Irina Derevko is a great woman.”

Jack: “So is morphine.”

-          Jack: “No one wants a happy ending more than I do, but I know this woman. I know her charms. I know her tricks. The way she presents herself, she disarms you. Some people have that talent. Compared to all of them, Irina Derevko is extraordinary.”

-          Jack: “You asked me what I was afraid of. I can tell you, it’s obvious. I’m afraid of losing my daughter.” This was great.

-          Irina: “How do you say ‘thank you’ to the woman who killed your father?”

Vaughn: “You don’t.” Good job Vaughn!

Some Final Notes

-          Sark keeps getting away. I liked his job offer.

-          Marshall’s medal/keys were cool.

-          Irina Derevko is going to Camp Harris. I would not want to go there.

-          Francie keeps cracking me up. She was expecting to see a hot delivery man, and she gets an eighty-year-old man. Classic Francie.

-          It was nice watching Sydney give Will the good news about the music box.

-          What’s going on with Emily? Is she really alive? How can Sloane explain the garden? How can he explain the signature? Now the Alliance will be on his trail.

-          I liked watching Kendall admit being wrong. That was satisfying.

Excellent episode. 5 stars
