Gossip
Episode 3.20

Gossip. The center of everyone’s lives. This week was no different. It’s why the show is so good; it’s Wisteria Lane. If there’s not enough material to gossip about here, I don’t know what else we can gossip about. It seems it can not only hurt someone, it can ruin them. For Mrs. McCluskey, this has been the worst thing that could ever happen.

So is this story arc resolved? It was fun while it lasted though. It turned out that the truth was simple: Mrs McCluskey needed the pension payments to keep coming through. Her husband hadn’t changed the name of the beneficiary of his money in case of his death. So, she froze him. Makes sense to me. At least she didn’t kill him though. That was a nice change. The resolution wasn’t soapy, just nice and fresh. So her husband must have just died of a natural death. That’s fine with me.

I felt bad for her though. The gossip was obviously affecting her. Seeing as how she has usually led a quiet life, she wasn’t prepared to be in the centre of attention. That’s the way life is though. People can’t keep their mouths shut and I loved how she tried teaching this to Parker. But he in turn told her that the best thing to do is tell the truth. It always comes out; it has to. It was hard for the kid to watch his favourite caretaker get abused. Those were nice moments.

Lynette isn’t there though to see these things happen to her son because she’s out staying late with Rick. The secret might be out though. That little Kayla is such a witch. She needs to leave. Now Tom is definitely on to her. He’s going to be in the restaurant again. He’s going to torture himself so she can be away from Rick. I don’t like where this is going though. If Lynette does in fact have an affair, I might lose all respect for her. She was always the one I trusted. She’s the most loyal. Now she’s going to do this and I don’t like it. I hate Kayla though.

Susan again delivered making me laugh so hard I was on the floor crying when she kept lifting the window to choke the mean parking guy. What an amazingly hysterical scene. But she lost Mike and Ian it turns out. I don’t blame him for walking out on her. She definitely loves Mike and Ian should have walked out a while ago. She was never committed. Who would listen to the recording again? She sank to the floor when she heard the message. Now that Mike has taken off, is Susan going to go after him? I’m assuming she will.

What was Gabby’s problem? Why can she have a relationship when Carlos cannot? She didn’t ask him if she could marry. Why is Carlos so special? I don’t like the fact though that Gabrielle got what she wanted. I do want him to end up with Edie. I love them together. And as long as Edie keeps acting the way she has been all this time, I’m all for her presence.

These past few weeks have just proven how important Edie’s presence on the show is. She has made the show so much better. This week’s party was amazing. She does know how to throw elaborate parties though for her son. I wish I was her kid. I loved her trying to get back at Gabrielle by coming up with her own “games.” She used both Susan and Lynette to her advantage. I love her.

Desperate Moments

This week’s moment goes to Mrs McCluskey finally telling the truth to Wisteria Lane. She had to keep her husband frozen in order to keep receiving pension payments; her husband was married before. He never changed the records. Forced by Parker, she told Edie and the others that this was all for greed.

More moments: Lynette blows off her children to go to a restaurant opening with Rick, Carlos drags Gabrielle away from the party, Susan listens to Mike’s message twice, Edie throws a birthday party to get back at Gabby

The Neighborhood Watch by Katey Price

I’m going to kill Edie. So we were having so much fun at Travers’ birthday party. Who knew that Edie could throw such a party? She had reptiles and snakes and ewww. I hate them. Preston and Porter Scavo thought it would be fun to put a lizard down my shirt. I ran crying until the reptile man ran after me and took it out. I ran home to take a shower.

It’s only after did I go back and help clean up that I was picking up some stuff at a kiosk that I heard Mrs McCluskey tell the truth. She said what really happened to her husband. She walked in on him dead one time and that selfish hag couldn’t live without his pension payments so that said, she froze him and kept them coming. Who does that? I mean come on. We all somehow deal.

Then, I was walking my dog when I saw Ian with a bag in what looked like it was full of clothes. I think he’s moving out. I think it’s over. But the funny thing is that you would think she would have chosen Mike, but he has moved out. Carlos told me something bad happened and he took off. Where is he going?

Quotable Quotes

-          Lynette: “If you wanna keep your husband frozen, at least get a dedicated freezer.”

-          Gabrielle: “Do you know that feeling you get when you knew people hate you.”

Edie: “No, I don’t.”

Gabrielle: ‘Well you should, ‘cause they do.”

-          Edie (to Gabby): “You’re as tall as my legs.”

-          Gabrielle: “Friends share more than gossip and brunch; they share enemies too.”

-          Edie: “If she wants to play schoolgirl games then fine. I invented them.”

-          Lynette (to Gabrielle): “I don’t understand what her excuse is.”

Susan: “You are so dead.”

-          Gabrielle: “Betrayal makes me cranky.”

Some Final Notes

-          Gabrielle’s engagement party was hysterical. I loved seeing the different things that might piss her off; it’s only Edie. She even broke the glass.

-          How funny was the scene where Susan tells Julie what to say? She slapped her on the behind—such a Susan thing.

-          Gabrielle didn’t want Susan and Lynette to talk to Edie. That was a bit much. Edie was smart asking Lynette to cater and asking Susan to sign her books.

-          I don’t like Kayla. I want Lynette to kick her.

-          I laughed when Susan kicked her guy out of his car and stole it and locked his head in the window. What a great idea.

-          Susan fell apart in front of that scary psychologist. She must have had a fun morning listening to her.

-          I died laughing when Lynette tackled Susan to the ground at the party.

-          Kayla saw Lynette touch Rick’s chest. I keep saying it and it keeps aggravating me.

-          Lynette hired McCluskey back. Thank God.

Very strong. 4 stars
