Enough is Enough (No More Tears)
Episode 2.2

I feel like I’m the only one who likes Addison Shepherd. I absolutely love her. And she is absolutely right. I can’t see her cheat on Derek for the mere reason to cheat on him. There’s more to it than that. I believe that. Meredith won’t hear of it though as she’s pissed at both of them. No more naïve Meredith.

I hope Meredith will be able to get out of this situation clean. She doesn’t want a mess; she doesn’t want McDreamy. It’s over. This might be a bit too early to call though. She’s obviously depressed about it. She isn’t ready to openly talk about it with Addison. She completely disregards her when she gets the chance. Let’s see how long she can keep this up. In the morning, she tells Derek that she’s a sink with an open drain; anything he says goes right through her. And judging by the tone she uses, she obviously still resents him. There are very few people who don’t now. Derek is on a collision course with Dr. Webber, Burke, Addison, the interns, and maybe Bailey. It’s not a good time for McDreamy. Let’s just blame everything on Addison. How long can McDreamy stay dreamy?

Putting aside the love triangle, this week’s fascinating character was Alex. I can’t believe I said that. We were given hints that Alex came from a troubled home. This week, we learnt why exactly he became a wrestler; he wanted to beat the hell out of his dad. And he got that shot. After meeting Scotty, the teenager from the car crash, Alex got to give the kid some advice. He says he regrets driving his father away from the family. After beating the daylights out of him, Alex’s father ran away. He says he would do anything to get his old man back. He advises Scotty to think wisely about his decision. Bob Seabirt might be a wife beater, but he is still Scotty’s father. Living with him is one thing, but saving his life is another. Everyone deserves a life. It really felt as if Alex was human for a second. Izzie saw it too. I’m happy for Alex. He knows what being helpless feels like. He knows it too well.

There was another important message in the episode. Bailey tasks George to perform all these life-saving techniques on a dead man. George doesn’t understand the point. When he finally sees the family in the waiting room, he realizes that there’s a point to all this madness apart from the experience; it’s so they can tell the family they tried their best to save their loved one. Well done, George.

Burke is not having an easy time as interim chief. Derek tries stirring up trouble, in an attempt to piss off Burke. Why not? He dumped Cristina. But Burke is handling the situation well. Every crisis that’s happened has been easily handled by Burke, if not excellently. That’s really too bad. I want him to fall flat on his behind. Why is that too much to ask for? Like I said, after what he did to Cristina, he deserves it.

Dear Diary

Alex: I know what that kid is going through. I was the kid a long time ago. My mother was beaten the same way. She cried the same way. She lied the same way. I don’t blame the kid for being angry. Hell, I was the same way. That’s why I became a wrestler. The next time he touched her, I beat the crap out of him. I do still miss him. I wish I hadn’t done what I did. I miss my old man. No one’s heard of him since. I’m glad Scotty took a stand though. He saved his father’s life, but he’s decided to move out with his mother and tell everything to the cops. I just hope his mother doesn’t go back to him.

Izzie: This was seriously the first time I ever saw Alex so uptight about such a thing. I’m the one who usually tells him to get serious or to get smart. He really looked hurt by the way I was talking to Scotty. He said I was doing a sales pitch. I failed to see that. But I’ve always looked at Alex one way. He’s always been Evil Spawn to me. There’s much more to him. I overheard him saying the same thing about himself. He says his father did the same thing to his mother. I can’t understand that. But I can understand what it’s like to be helpless. That’s how Scotty felt. It’s an awful feeling. And Izzie was really compassionate about the whole thing.

Today’s Baileyisms

-          “Swallow a bitter pill this morning, Yang? They’re dolls!”

Quotable Quotes

-          Cristina: “You know I used to be all business and then he goes and gets me pregnant.”

Meredith: “With a stupid boy penis.”

Cristina: “Now I’m having hormone surges. He ruined me. I’m ruined! He turned me into this... fat, stupid, pregnant girl. Who cares! Estrogen!”

Meredith: “Penises. Penises Izzie.”

Cristina: “Estrogen George.” I loved this whole scene.

-          Meredith (to Derek): “I am a sink with an open drain. Anything you say runs straight out.”

George: “She probably could have picked a better metaphor.”

Izzie: “Give her a break, she’s got a hangover.”

-          Chief: “You called my wife?”

Derek: “You called mine!”

-          Adele: “You don’t know what a vacation is, how would you know how to ruin it?”

-          Cristina: “I dissected them, cut off their arms, shaved their heads.”

Alex: “Sounds like there is a second twisted story behind this...”

Cristina: “They are sexist, distorted, devil toys creating unrealistic image expectations in the porn driven minds of men.”

Bailey: “Swallow a bitter pill this morning, Yang? They’re dolls!”

-          Derek: “Addison and I are over, Adele.”

Addison: “It’s not like we’re divorced.”

Derek: “Practically divorced.”

Adele: You’ve had counseling?”

Derek: “We’ve had adultery, that was enough.”

-          Adele: “You know, you’re perfect for this job Preston - unattached, obsessive, this hospital, this job, it’s enough for you, isn't it?” I love Adele.

-          Meredith: “But why did you swallow 10 doll heads?”

Patient: “Because 11 was too many...”

Some Final Notes

-          The opening scene was hysterical. Meredith is blaming her problems on penises and Cristina is blaming her problems on estrogen. I love this show.

-          When Burke shuts Derek down about his surgery, Cristina whispers to Meredith, “mine’s bigger than yours.” Loved that. Alex obviously had to walk in at that moment to ask Cristina to whip it out and measure.

-          Olivia called George “George.” He gets pissed and she says “Dr. O’Malley.”

-          I’m glad George made it clear to Olivia that it was over. I can’t stand her face. She was happy he was honest. He likes another girl.

-          The Seabirt family is brought in after the father, Bob, took part in a road rage. His son Scotty says he got what he deserved.

-          Mr. Hubble ingested ten Judy doll heads. Of course, we never found out why. They couldn’t give us any closure.

-          Cristina says she dissected them as a child. Why doesn’t that surprise me?

-          Scotty gave his liver to his father. I didn’t know the liver can fix itself. Seriously.

-          When Bailey is taking out the heads from Mr. Hubble’s intestines, she takes one out and says it looks like Meredith.

-          I liked the fact that Scotty had his own interest in the deal. He made his mom promise him that she’ll leave him and move out.

-          Derek asked George to look out for Meredith.

Good. 3 stars
