Make Me Lose Control
Episode 2.3

Wow. What an amazing episode. I should have known that there was going to be a bit more with Cristina’s baby. It died. It looks as if Cristina is sad about it. Was she starting to reconsider? I’m hoping she was. Anyway, this episode had so much going on I thought I was watching a finale of Alias. That’s a good thing.

Burke should have realized that there was something wrong with Cristina. For her to not be answering his easy questions should have been an obvious indication that she wasn’t feeling well. Of course, when you’re as self-obsessed as Burke is, it’s not that easy to pick off someone else’s pain. Sorry, I’ve never liked the character. It’s funny that Addison asked Izzie how Cristina felt about having a child. Can she really tell if someone doesn’t want a baby?

I really liked the way Cristina’s pain brought the friends together. Izzie finally talked things over with Meredith and they know each other’s pain. I can understand Izzie’s frustration. Like I wrote in a previous review, the five interns aren’t friends. They’re merely interns who do nothing but work all day. That’s the sad truth. In the end, all of them got together for Cristina. I hope things will finally be different now. Meredith also seems to be warming up to Alex. He really is a nice guy when you get to know him. He told Meredith if she needed to talk to anyone, he’s there for her. What’s the big deal with just being a nice guy to everyone? I don’t get it. I’ve never been really mean. I’m a nice guy.

Ellis Grey returned to the hospital with a rather shocking and unforgettable entrance. I can’t watch someone’s brain turn to mush like hers is. It’s really sad. Although what I’m going to say next may be a bit cruel, I have to say it: Ellis Grey is really funny. The way she acts and talks can be entertaining. I feel really bad for writing that now. I can’t imagine how much it must have hurt Meredith to see her mother screaming in a hospital bed. She ran to a corner and actually hid from everyone. Did you notice though how her friends ran to console her when they learnt she was indeed Meredith’s mother? Everyone was very friendly this week.

Meredith doesn’t even want to hate Derek anymore. She made a move on him. She kissed him. What is Derek going to do? It’s obvious he still has feelings for his wife. That kiss she gave him in the nursery seemed to be really intense. Derek looked like he enjoyed it. Meredith just broke down outside the hospital. But Meredith doesn’t know what she wants. That’s evident. I also liked the fact she said Addison is really hard to hate: she’s beautiful, smart, and nice. Finally, someone agrees with me. I just hope the three can act civilized with one another. On a side note, how sad was it to watch Meredith hope her mom had liver cancer? It makes sense. Dying from Alzheimer’s is a slow and painful death. They don’t give you morphine. If you die of liver cancer, then they give you morphine and death is fast. It turned out to be benign though.

Poor Ellis. She is so confused and she doesn’t know it. It hit me while I was writing this review: how cool would it have been to have Ellis work with her daughter at Seattle Grace? I can dream can’t I? Meredith tried really hard to find something out about her father. Ellis thought George was Thatcher and for a second, George made her believe that Thatcher wanted her back. Why did she mention Webber’s name? Was there something going on between them?

Dear Diary

Meredith: Today was one of the worst days after. First thing, my mom comes screaming in the hospital. They say she might have had liver cancer. I wish she did. I can’t see her die this way. What kind of person wants her mother to die of cancer? It’s the only thing I can hope for. Then, Cristina supposedly fainted in the OR. Thank God Bailey and Izzie were there to take care of her. Bailey wouldn’t let me go stay with Cristina during her operation. At least Izzie was there. She told me something that’s probably true: she says Cristina and I distance ourselves from her. It’s just, Izzie is too perky sometimes. She’s not like us.

George: It was so weird. Dr. Grey thought I was her husband Thatcher. That was really weird. Why didn’t Meredith say anything to us? Why doesn’t she feel like we’d understand? So I tried calming Ellis down. She kept bossing me around telling me to leave. I told her I didn’t like the way she spoke to Meredith. I told her to be quiet. She wanted me to sleep next to her. She even kissed me. However I can help Meredith. When will I ever get my chance with her?

Today’s Baileyisms

-          “Oh, I’m sorry. I thought I was your resident not your hostess. I assign, you take. Is that a problem?”

Quotable Quotes

-          Bailey: “Do you have a problem?”

Izzie: “No.”

Bailey: “Do you have a mocha latte?”

Izzie: “No.”

Bailey: “Then go away.”

-          Bailey: “Izzie, both Dr. Shepherd’s need an intern up on NICU.”

Izzie: “Wait, both of them, together? And me, by myself, with the two married people who hate each other?”

-          Chief (to Derek): “You clear me now or I’ll hurt you.”

-          Chief: “I’ve been sitting home for a week watching Oprah give away things on TV. Oprah, Derek!”

-          Meredith: “It’s not okay. You have a wife who’s not easy to hate, who’s annoyingly kind and painfully smart, and currently saving my friend’s life.” This is all true.

-          Cristina: “Meredith... leave the sarcasm up to me.. Really... it doesn’t suit you.”

-          Derek: “Maybe you should’ve thought of that before you gave chief to Burke and invited Satan to Seattle.”

Chief: “Satan?”

Addison: “Good morning. Richard, like the hat.”

Derek: “Satan speaks.”

Addison: “Actually I prefer to be called ruler of all that is evil. But I will answer to Satan.”

-          Izzie: “How can someone be so offensive and yet so charming all at the same time?”

Alex: “It’s an art form.”

-          Cristina: “Slutty mistress.”

Meredith: “Pregnant whore.”

Cristina: “Sleeping with our bosses was a great idea!”

Some Final Notes

-          Kelly Roche always blushes. She says she can’t keep secrets because her face always shows what she’s feeling. I think it was worth the risk.

-          Meredith and Cristina jogging was fun. It shows they don’t jog. It’s okay. I don’t jog either.

-          All the friends are shocked to see Alex and Izzie talking in the morning. I was surprised too.

-          Addison wants to be called “Ruler of All that is Evil.”

-          I laughed when I saw Webber’s hat.

-          Derek doesn’t want to operate on the premature baby. Addison does. But in a day, the baby has made significant progress. Let’s hope we’ll see the end of this story.

-          Addison feels like she can’t win with Derek. How long will she keep trying?

-          Cristina was seven weeks pregnant before she lost the child.

-          One of Cristina’s fallopian tubes tore. I really wanted her to have a baby.

-          Shepherd doesn’t want to clear Webber for surgery.

-          I want to see more Adele.

Excellent episode. 5 stars
