Let the Angels Commit
Episode 3.6

Izzie is back. It wasn’t what I wanted though. Everyone was acting a wee bit touchy. I understand Izzie screwed everything up, but come on!!! Meredith was on her high horse, Cristina is going completely psycho, Alex misses his times with Addison, George has two uteruses and Bailey is somehow losing herself. I’m all worried about everyone at Seattle Grace.

I’m beginning to worry. Cristina is going to land herself in a great pile of trouble. Can I make a prediction? I predict Izzie will be assigned to work with Cristina and consequently, Izzie will figure out Cristina’s role in Burke’s surgeries. Look out Cristina. Cristina has changed. She went from looking up to Burke, believing he was the best, to his guardian angel. She is incapable of watching him suffer or worse, lose his reputation. I hope she is helping Burke for his well-being and not for her own. I hope she’s not doing this to not show her own vulnerability. Is she more afraid for her well-being? What kind of person would she be if everyone found out she stuck by a doctor willing to endanger his patients’ lives for the good of his reputation? I have faith in Cristina. She is really killing herself about this. Cristina, don’t disappoint us. She needs Burke out of the house for a few days to clear her head. What frightens me more now is her obsessive nature. She took control of the operating board. Bailey also figured out that Cristina was probably the person who erased her name off the board. One intern comes back and another is almost out the door.

Izzie’s return to the hospital was underwhelming. Of course, I didn’t expect her to be operating alongside Dr. Shepherd upon her return, but Bailey has put a tight leash on her. As far as self-control goes, Izzie needs help. I am confident though. Although I’m glad she helped Gretchen, she has to take a step back. She has to realize that she is no longer in a place of authority. Once again, the writers stick to continuity and make their characters act the way they were meant to act. Should we expect anything less from Shonda? It would be completely out of character for Izzie to have kept her mouth shut about Gretchen’s self-inflicted injury. Her care for her patients takes priority. That’s the way she has always been.

Bailey is going through a crisis. Following last episode’s M&M, she learns of her fellow doctors’ lack of trust in her. It was surprising to see Bailey get so worked up about this. She has always been independent and strong. She’s Bailey. She doesn’t care what people say about her. She lost the very quality that makes her distinguishable. I don’t think Bailey is out for good though. She is going through a lot: she has to cope with the return of the very intern that sent Seattle Grace into hell, she has to deal with her family and she has to deal with her coworkers doubting her efficiency. That’s a lot to handle.

Derek’s sister comes into town. There’s a woman who’s a lot to handle. I feel for Derek. Growing up with four sisters and a mother can be at times very uncomfortable. To all you sisters reading, no offence. Sometimes, your brothers need a bit of room. Enough with our personal issues. Nancy, Derek’s sister, barges into the hospital. She could not have been any better suited for the show. I loved watching her argue with Derek. I also enjoyed watching her get excited over two uteruses. That’s something we never see. What does she do for a living though? Is she a doctor? Anyways, I would like to see more of her. Much to McDreamy’s dismay.

Dear Diary

Izzie: Everything has changed. I stepped into the hospital again hoping that everything remained the same. It didn’t. For starters, Bailey has me shadowing Meredith all day. It’s nothing against her, but I want to be useful. I know I have to regain their trust, but I want to be back in the operating room. Bailey is just looking out for me. I missed this place. My patient, Gretchen, tried burning her hand so she could miss her bar exam. She had failed it five times. I realized all this was not coincidental. She wanted to go home and hurt herself again. Anyways, we brought her up for a psych. evaluation. She is going through a lot and I wish her the best. Bailey has me restricted to following one doctor a day. I wonder who I get tomorrow.

Cristina: I erased Bailey’s name off the OR board. I can’t think about that now. I hope he appreciates what I’m doing for him. When I looked into his eyes, Burke couldn’t see me. For him, it was as if looking at a different person. I have to do this. I am in the same position Pruitt’s wife is in. I have to be smart and protect the man I love. I don’t care what anyone thinks. I don’t have the time for Meredith’s crap or anyone else’s crap for that matter. Izzie is back. She wants more responsibilities. Does she actually think it’s that easy coming back? I hate it when people can’t accept the consequences of their actions. Burke is scheduled for some ops tomorrow. I’ve got to research and get up to speed. How much longer can I do this?

Today’s Baileyisms

-          (to Izzie) “Let’s start with what you don’t get to do. You will not interact with any patients. You will not be alone with any patients. You will be seen and not heard. You will perform no procedures. The OR is off limits. No pre-op, no post-op. No anything having to do with an ‘op.’ You have no authority. You have no opinion. You have no choice in the matter. Do you understand?”

Quotable Quotes

-          Meredith: “Derek had a woman in his trailer last night. She was ugly, very ugly, except she was tall and beautiful. And he was naked.”

George (as Cristina): “Oh. Uh, McDreamy was doing the McNasty with McHottie? That McBastard.” Hysterical.

-          George: “Okay, uh, Callie... she won't forgive me. Uh, she won't talk to me. She dumped me. Which is uh, I don't care about, you know, at all...”

Meredith (as Izzie): “Good because you deserve better. You do. You are George. I mean seriously. Seriously. Seriously.” Great.

-          Meredith: No more Derek. No more Callie.”

George: “Just a hundred percent focused on our work.”

Meredith: “They're dead to us.”

George: “They're freakin' corpses to us.” (knocks fists with Meredith)

-          Cristina: Everything is not about you, Meredith.”

-          George (about Cristina): “She's writing on the OR board.”

Alex: “Maybe I should sleep with Burke.”

-          Derek: “I really don't like you.”

Nancy: “You love me.”

-          Izzie: “McDreamy's sister is McBitchy.” Loved this one.

-          Derek: “Four sisters - four sisters! Not one brother; and you wonder why I don't call more.” That would drive me crazy too.

-          Bailey (to Webber): “I have many skills. Many skills. Surgical skills. Your button ruptures its esophagus, I'm your woman. Otherwise...”

-          George: “You and me. We're like ham and eggs. I was the chicken. And I just want you to know that I was the chicken. You put yourself out there and you were committed. And I just put the eggs on the plate. Not the ham because you're the pig. I was not involved but now, I'm committed.”

Callie (offended): Did you just call me a pig?”

-          Bailey: “I just- I just.. I need to know why. I need to know why you didn't want me in on your surgery.”

Burke: “I just-- I'm afraid I couldn't use you.”

Some Final Notes

-          I love the cases these interns get. George was overexcited with his two uteruses. I would be excited to have a case like that too. That’s so cool.

-          Noelle’s story (the two uteruses) was great. She made a mistake and her husband is still sticking by her. I loved watching Greg talk to his baby girl about sports.

-          How long will it take before Bailey confronts Cristina? I bet it will take a matter of seconds.

-          Derek has four sisters. Wow.

-          Mark Sloan is really aggravating me. Why would he put an intern to make some calls for him? I love how Addison was right about Mark.

-          Alex had a great scene in the operating room with the two uteruses. He misses Addison and her department.

-          I knew that George would end up calling Callie a pig. He was speaking metaphorically of course. I really want George and Callie’s relationship to work out. “Ham and eggs” was great.

-          It was great to watch George act like Cristina and Meredith as Izzie.

-          Meredith completely understands Derek’s need for space. Looks like next week the boys are off to a camping trip.

-          Izzie is getting daily reports. So far so good.

-          Callie slept with Mark three times. Callie, what are you doing?

-          I liked Nancy’s comment about how everyone sleeps with Mark. She calls it a “rite of passage.”

-          Everyone knows Meredith as “the slutty intern.” Word travels fast.

-          The elevator scene/ “pact” scene was one of the classics.

Izzie’s return to the hospital was underwhelming. Derek’s sister Nancy was great but it wasn’t enough. 3 stars
