The boys are out of town and the girls are home. “Where
the Boys Are” was definitely a different episode. It was fun, depressing and revealing. Some people got to start over,
while others heard the worst news of their lives. Some even decided to hit on people they shouldn’t be hitting on, and
some started a great new relationship. It’s time to rehash.
The camping scenes were great. Whosever idea it was to have
the guys go camping together is a genius. Derek decided he wanted to go alone. He decided to invite Burke, who invited Chief
Webber. Burke also invited George, who in turn invited Joe. Alex tagged along. There was something innocent about the episode.
Camping is such a man sport, but in the episode, it’s made out to be something different. The guys try to be “Mountain
Men” which cracked me up every time I heard it. I could never go camping. I once
did and I have hated it ever since. The slapping scene between Alex and George was hysterical. Alex reveals that Callie
is doing Sloan. George, of course, goes wild. He wants to take Alex down. I particularly enjoyed watching Burke analyze the
fight. He called O’Malley a “scrapper.” Shepherd, who loathes the whole idea of a fight, thinks O’Malley
will get pulverized. Poor Walter, Joe’s boyfriend, is the innocent bystander. The doctors have to perform in the middle
of the jungle. That was great.
George had some big stuff this week. Apart from his fight
with Alex which was a classic moment, he notices Burke’s hand shaking. Burke sits with him before he leaves and scolds
him. Burke accuses George of having too high standards. He says Cristina and him are a team. Burke implies that it’s
time for George to be part of a team. I personally have no sympathy for liars. Burke can kill someone. He’s lucky Cristina
is there. But now, their secret is rising to the surface. Also, George’s dad is in the hospital. In the previews, it
looks as if Burke will operate on him. Juicy stuff coming up.
It’s time for Burke to get a reality check. He has
always had a big ego, but he should realize that he’s endangering the lives of his patients. He will definitely lose
his reputation this way. Bailey is close to the secret. It won’t be much longer until Cristina will have to give up
the truth. She needs to be in the surgical room and she needs to be a doctor. I’m surprised Bailey is letting Cristina
off so easy. Wouldn’t she go to the Chief? Then again, Bailey knows how to torture someone. She knows how to extract
the truth. She’ll get there, soon.
For me, the most interesting part of the episode was the
development of the Addison/Callie relationship. They start off with nothing in common, except the fact that they are both
sleeping with Sloan. Addison
pages Callie because her patient broke her arm. Addison finds out the baby died and she runs out crying. The scene in the bathroom
was fantastic. This just proves how decent Callie is. She said it herself. She was going to climb over the door of the bathroom
stall to see if Addison was okay. Callie has evolved into a powerful character. Why
did she have to sleep with Sloan? I loved watching the scene in the hallway where Addison asks Callie out
for a drink. The hospital pulls Callie back in. Awesome scenes.
Somehow, a new love triangle is forming. Meredith is getting
very close to McSteamy. Sloan is trying to get Meredith. Funny thing: Meredith bought his act. She thinks he actually cares
for her. He might actually be looking out for her. He blames McDreamy for leaving her because he needed some space. Sloan
says he would never leave. Meredith doesn’t kiss him though. She says she is immune to the McSteamy face. Derek comes
back and asks Meredith to start over with him. They do; they kiss. How long will this “new” relationship last?
I’ll give it a few episodes.
Dear Diary
George: What happened?
We were all out on a camping trip. I found out that Callie was sleeping with Sloan. When I got back, my father was lying in
a hospital bed. I don’t need this right now. Alex told me about Callie and Sloan. Is it true? I have to find out. How
could she do that? Alex wouldn’t lie to me. That is low even for him. What’s also going on with Burke? I’m
sure I saw his hand shake when we were fishing. Was this just a random thing? His hand looked fine when he stitched Walter
back up. Do I say anything? He told me we should be a team. I have to act like a team member.
Izzie: Psycho Sydney was my peer counselor. Now I know why she’s so crazy though. She says she once lost a kid. I started into
her eyes and I really say her pain. She told me the only way to get past it was to put a smile on her face and stay positive.
I just miss Denny so much. Every day I walk into this hospital. Everyone expects me to act like the same old Izzie. I’m
not the same. I screwed up. I screwed up. Seriously, how do I forget Denny? There’s something I have to do to get over
this pain. I’m just always lonely. That’s all I am.
Today’s Baileyisms
-
“Don’t give me that fake confused
look. It irritates me. You know exactly what I’m talking about. You erased my name from Burke’s humpty-dumpty
surgery. I know it and you know it. What I don’t know is why…no surgeries Yang.”
-
“You really want to go head-to-head
with me on this.”
-
“Right now, this second, in this moment,
you chose your own fate.”
Quotable Quotes
- Izzie: “You've sunscreen and insect repellant?
And oh, you're gonna need a shovel to bury your poop.”
George:
“Izzie, I'm not five.”
- Meredith: “Derek's camping. Taking time. Getting
space.”
Cristina: “Prestons do not go into the woods. A guy named Preston is gonna get his ass kicked by a squirrel.”
Izzie:
“It's basically a slumber party, they do it outside, we do it inside. It's really the only difference.”
- Bailey: “Are you too good to help that boy?”
Cristina: “Yes. (sees Bailey's face) No, definitely not.” Sandra Oh was great here.
- Meredith: “Okay, before you start, there are rules
to this friendship thing or whatever.”
Mark:
“The Dirty Mistresses Club has rules? Gosh, I thought a bunch of dirty mistresses would be a little less uptight about
these uh, rules.”
Meredith: “Number one, no flirting. Second, no talking about Derek and C, no giving me the face.”
Mark:
“The face?”
Meredith: “The McSteamy face. Doesn't work on me. I'm immune.”
Mark:
“You know, if I'd gone off to the woods, I would've invited you to keep me warm.”
Meredith: “Breaking rules 1, 2 and 3.”
- Chief (realises that Joe and Walter are a couple)
“Oh! So you're um, that's wonderful. Man love. It's beautiful.
It's beautiful. M-my cousin's gay and so I'm hip and Brokeback Mountain and all of that.”
- Callie: “You okay?”
Addison: “Yeah, I'm fine, I'm okay, I'm good.” (sobs)
Callie:
“Don't make me climb over this stall. I'll do it but I'll be really pissed because I don't know you that well.”
- Donna: “So are you saying if I become a woman,
I'm going to die?”
Some Final Notes
- Eric, the boy who swallowed the monopoly pieces,
was hysterical. I laughed whenever I watched Cristina go through his poop. I also enjoyed him calling her stupid.
- Donna was an incredible story. She wanted her
wife to see her for what she truly is. It doesn’t matter if she had cancer, she was going to become a woman. Her wife,
Vicky, was incredible. I’m glad she came back for Donna.
- The mother of the dead baby, Jamie, was excellent.
Imagine delivering a dead baby. I couldn’t even imagine delivering a baby.
- “Where the Boys Are” is a song by
Connie Francis.
- Joe and Walter are not going camping with straight
guys again.
- The Chief was hysterical with his hat and briefcase.
He looked like a little kid.
- Addison and Callie are no longer having sex with
Mark. That’s good.
- Bailey is putting her foot down and really giving
Cristina a hard time. I wonder how long it’s going to take before Bailey gets to the truth.
- I was ecstatic to see Kali Rocha back as Sydney.
Izzie had to spend the day with her. I liked the Meredith and Cristina’s reaction when they remembered Sydney: “eww.”
We know why she’s always cheerful. She lost a kid a while ago and the only way to stay positive is to put a smile on
her face.
- Watching Izzie trying to dodge Sydney was classic.
She preferred going through poop than speak to Sydney.
