This one was even better. I’m as obsessed with this
show as I am with Alias and trust me, when that happens, it means the show rocks.
I love this show. I love it, I love it, and…now I love it even more. We learned even more about the characters and we
meet a polar bear on the island. What’s up with that? I love this show.
I hope that we’ve met every character there is to meet.
Once again, the diversity on this show is commendable. J.J. has always been good with casting. The actors are fantastic and
their stories are even better. As the show evolves, so will the actors. The person who I really liked this week was Sawyer.
He sounds like the typical Southern pompous jerk who suspects every Arab of being a terrorist. He doesn’t sound like it, he is. I thought that he was the criminal on board. I guess I was wrong again.
I feel like I’m always going to be wrong with this show. I can guess and guess and guess, but I will never be right.
That’s the way it is.
Sawyer (Josh Holloway) had some great stuff this week. He
was reading some sort of letter this week (with a cigarette)…and he shot a polar bear. I’ll get back to that later.
He also accuses Sayid of being a terrorist. I like Sayid. He had a great two minute conversation with Hurley where he reveals
that he was part of the Republican Guard. Shannon and Boone (her brother) continue bickering. She wants to prove how tough
she is by accompanying the gang to find a signal for the transceiver. She claims she’s going through a traumatic experience.
She’s such a snob. Charlie is a drug addict and was in the bathroom at the time of the crash. I’m guessing his
band got somehow involved in drugs and he hasn’t kicked the habit ever since. The Korean couple is out by themselves.
Jin, the husband, continues to control his wife. When Michael had come to see them, Jin ordered Sun to button up her shirt.
Relax man! She looks like a decent woman. Besides, how is she expected to take a shower? I liked how she rebelled against
him by unbuttoning her shirt when she left. This story will heat up. He tried offering Hurley and Claire some disgusting seafood.
Claire accepted the offer and claims to have felt her baby move again. She thought he had died. That’s so morbid. Walt and his father Michael are still looking for their dog Vincent. Walt reveals to Locke
(weird guy who plays backgammon) that he lived with his mother in Australia until she died. He really is having a bad month.
Now onto the meat of the episode: Kate is a criminal. WHAT?
She does have a heart though. She saved that pain-in-my-behind marshal who was sending her away to prison. I think she was
wrongfully accused. I can’t picture her being a criminal. She did swipe that gun off of Sawyer’s pocket in a swift
motion, though. I think she was playing dumb when she asked for help to disassemble the gun. The marshal is about to reveal
this to Jack. Watch out Kate!
Now onto the island mystery: Why is there a polar bear on
the island? I thought that was a bold move. Excellent stuff. The most important part of the episode: There’s been a
transmission playing over and over again for the past 16 years. Now you lost me. There’s some French lady who sent out
a mayday. Is she still on the island? I love this show.
Quotable Quotes
-
Kate: “What were you doing in the bathroom?”
Charlie:
“I was puking. My one tangible contribution to this trip.”
-
Sawyer (to Sayid): “Fine, I’m
the criminal. You’re the terrorist. We can all play a part. Who do you want to be?”
-
Boone: “Come on. You wanna give us a
hand?”
Shannon: “Not really.” She’s such a snob.
-
Claire: “Is that your boyfriend?”
Shannon: “My brother Boone. God’s freakin’ gift to humanity.”
-
Hurley: “Hey, we’re all in this
together. Let’s treat each other with respect.”
Sawyer: “Shut
up, Lardo.” That’s so mean.
-
Shannon: “I’ve just been through a trauma here.”
Boone: “We’ve
all been through a trauma! The only difference is that you’ve given yourself a pedicure.” Loved this one.
-
Kate: “You decided to join us.”
Sawyer: “I’m
a complex man, sweetheart.” She hates that.
-
Charlie: “That’s French! The French
are coming! I’ve never been so happy to see the French.”
-
Sayid: “It’s been playing over
for 16 years.”
-
Charlie: “Guys, where are we?”
That’s the question of the week.
Some Final Notes
-
I didn’t pay attention. Did J.J. direct
this episode?
-
I love L. Scott Caldwell. I hope she’s
a regular.
-
Terry O’Quinn from Alias plays Locke.
-
Most of the Alias crew works on Lost. Better
for us.
-
More numbers sightings: The transmission was
recording for 16 years.
-
Did you guys all notice that Walt was reading
a comic book that had a picture of a polar bear in it.
-
Michael did not raise Walt.
-
I’m in awe with this show.
Even better than the first,
if that’s possible. I know that I add a special element to a show’s review. I have to find what to do here. I
have a few ideas and I promise to be more creative. Tune in for next episode and I’ll have a more layered review. 5 stars
