Finally we got to see what happened in Hurley’s mental
institution. What we got I definitely did not expect. It was a Hurley episode, but it wasn’t. It didn’t have the
usual Hurley comic relief, but it was still an important flashback episode. They’ve been wanting to do something like
this with Hurley for a while and I think everything worked out well.
I’m happy for one thing; we know this whole show is
not in Hurley’s head. There were hints that he might be completely psycho and that this whole show—the island,
the hatch—everything was a creation of his imagination. I’m glad that’s been scratched off. We know it for
a fact now based on the conversation Hurley had with Libby. I should have caught on sooner. Was Hurley there to witness Libby
bury Donald? Was Hurley there to witness Ana Lucia torturing Nathan? Did Hurley feel Eko’s pain of killing two Others?
He felt non of the those things. It sounds stupid when you look think about it.
I really enjoyed the Dave storyline. I guess when you look
back, Dave is Hurley’s habits. He’s the person he’s always wanted to let go of. He tried to get Hurley to
disobey the doctor’s orders, he’s the one that wanted to escape, he’s the one that wanted to wake up from
this nightmare and he’s the one that wanted to commit suicide. The new Hurley has something the old one didn’t;
Libby.
How I have grown to love Libby. You don’t understand.
I love her. She’s such an amazing character. Now it seems there’s going to be a lot more with her. She was also
at Hurley’s hospital. She was another wacko. Personally, she does look like a whacko. I don’t want her to be one. That ending scene over the cliff was just beautiful. She felt really hurt listening
to Hurley ramble on on how he doesn’t deserve her and all that crazy stuff. She really cares for the big guy. We all do.
Hurley’s been changing all this time. It wasn’t
until this week that he really came 180 degrees. He’s finally building up some self-esteem. He’s finally learning
how to live with himself. He pushed Dave off the cliff and he was then able to walk off into the jungle with Libby. Before
that though, who would have ever thought that he would attack Sawyer. That, by the
way, was one of the happiest moments of my life.
Meanwhile, I would have been perfectly content if Sayid hadn’t
missed and really shot Henry (or Fake Henry). I have grown to absolutely hate him. He is making a fantastic villain though.
He is able to get to absolutely anyone under his belt. He tells an interesting story though. He says he never put pressed
the button. He says they whole thing set over by itself. If this is true, the writers have made a giant mistake. The better
be more to the hatch if they expect me to keep coming back.
Everyone went absolutely psycho with all the food. I felt
so bad for Hurley who had just gotten rid of his whole stash. That must really suck if you get over a long time addiction
and then that same addiction pops up stronger than ever. People have to calm down with that food though. It’s not healthy.
Spotlight on…Hurley
-
Hurley is talking with his therapist. He’s
been on a diet for a while. He had a meeting with his mom and he says he has forgiven her for putting him into this place.
He doesn’t want to talk about his accident though. Dave, his friend, has been telling him not to talk.
-
Hurley is playing Connect 4 with Leonard.
Dave tells Hurley to stop eating celery and eat the crackers on the table. Dave then tells him to stop taking his pills. Dr.
Brooks passes by and wants to take a picture of both of them. Hurley finally doesn’t take the meds. He plans to escape
with Dave.
-
Hurley compiled a list of what he likes about
himself. He talks about his weight and how it caused the accident. He stepped onto a deck where twenty-three people were on.
When he walks on, the deck falls. He killed two people. His therapist shows him the picture of the he took earlier. Dave isn’t
there.
-
Dave wakes Hurley up. It’s time to run
away. Hurley took Dr. Brooks’ keys from his desk. Dave walks out the window first. Hurley leaves him there. He says
he can’t leave.
Tales from the Island
Hurley: I love that girl.
And she loves me back. Libby loves me back. I have never had a woman like her to love me back. It’s never happened before.
That’s why I thought all this was fake. In real life, back home, a woman like her would not even let me talk to her.
She doesn’t see my weight. She sees the guy inside. I am so grateful for that. Today, I kept seeing Dave. Over and over
again. He kept coming back. He kept tormenting me. Libby just loves me.
