I’m at once pissed off and excited. I loved the fact
that we saw the trio from the raft, but we got nowhere with the Locke, Jack, Kate storyline. It felt like a waste of an episode.
On that note, I’m thinking it was necessary to do it. We had to see the countdown clock in the hatch and we had to see
where Kate was all this time. So, we’re hopefully going to get somewhere next week.
Was it just me or did everything we see in the Michael flashbacks
seem done already. It was just continuing what “Special” had started and it was nothing refreshing. I still felt
bad for Michael this time and I still thought his story was kind of boring. I did however love the ending scene between him
and young Walt. That was a great scene acting-wise for Harold Perrineau. He’s
always good though. It felt real and intense and that’s what you gun for in a father-son scene.
I think where the real magic came in was on the raft. Or half the raft as it had become. I just loved watching Michael just lose it. Not
because I’m sadistic, but because it felt real. He lost his son—the son he had never seen before this trip. Yeah,
I would be pretty pissed too and I don’t blame him for trying to place the blame on someone. In the end, he realized
that he was the only one to blame. He made Walt get on the raft. But nothing could have changed. The Others (yes I’m
convinced they exist) would have taken him from the camp. Did you see them chasing Jin? That was freaky.
I also really liked Sawyer this week. This is a guy who has
really changed. He has gone 180 degrees and has ended up somewhere where he should be proud of. After trying to save Walt,
saving Michael, swam in the open ocean with an injured arm, took the bullet out himself and looked like he cared about Jin,
he’s this week’s hero. He’s more than a badass; he’s a good ass. That’s what we’ll call
him from now.
Going back to the old (but new) hatch scenes—I didn’t
love them. It felt like a filler storyline for me. Everything we discovered could have been shown after Jack showed up. Let’s
talk about these things:
Firstly, we have to enter Hurley’s numbers into the
computer to stop the beeping sound. That’s ridiculously smart. I wonder what Hurley is going to say when he hears about
this. That countdown clock gets brought back to 180 when we “execute” those set of numbers. It’s time to
get scared because the sum of our numbers is 108. I’m starting to think there’s
more to these numbers.
Secondly, we saw the name Dharma on the food products, Desmond’s
suit, the electrical box…mostly on everything. Was that a swan on the logo? This show is so weird. Oh and did anyone
catch the Dharma logo on the shark? I didn’t, but I heard about it.
Thirdly, Desmond said he was waiting for “him.”
I’m guessing someone was supposed to send someone to take Dez’s place or something. I like how Locke said he was
that guy. This is guy is much more than freaky…he’s insane.
Spotlight on…Michael
-
Michael is recovering from the car crash.
Susan wants to him to relinquish his rights as Walt’s father. Michael doesn’t want to give up; he wants his son.
-
Susan’s lawyer is questioning Michael.
She is trying to prove that he knows nothing about his son. She is right.
-
Susan wants to talk with Michael privately.
Susan says Michael has to be responsible and let Walt go with her. He can’t provide for him; she can. He has to be his
father here.
-
Michael says good-bye to Walt for the last
time. He tells Walt to have a great life. He gives him a teddy bear.
Tales from the Island
Michael: I lost Walt. It’s
all my fault too. It’s not Sawyer’s. It’s my fault. He even fought to protect my son. I just lost him. How
can I be a father and just leave my son there? What kind of father does something like that? I woke up today and I just started
crying. I failed him. We can’t find Jin either. I hope he’s safe. Sawyer and I just saw the island. We’re
going back home. I won’t rest though until I find my son. I want him back and I’ll get him back.
Quotable Quotes
-
Sawyer (to Michael):
“He's the one they wanted - why I got a bullet in my shoulder. Hell, Bluebeard blew us up because they wanted your kid.”
-
Sawyer: “What do you
know about guns, anyway, Hoss. It'll work.”
-
Desmond: “So the world
is still out there?”
Locke: “Yeah, as far as I know.”
Why would he think the world is over?
-
Sawyer: “At least Walt
is on a boat - probably wrapped in a blanket with a cup of cocoa - while we're on this piece...”
Michael: “Get off my raft.” Loved this.
-
Sawyer: “It's a shark.
It's only a shark.”
Michael: “It's only a shark? That's supposed
to make me feel better?”
-
Sawyer (to Michael):
“What are you gonna do, splash me?”
-
Sawyer: “You got a bandaid?”
Some Final Notes
-
Michael kept shouting and shouting for Walt.
That kid was gone.
-
Desmond kept asking “Are you him?”
He asked him, “What did the snowman say to the other snowman?” Locke had no idea what he was talking about.
-
That shark was scary. I still can’t
believe they put a Dharma sign on it. That is just genius.
-
I just realized that Michael gave Walt a polar
bear. Get it? The polar bear from the island.
-
Did you see Kate just rip open that candy
bar? I thought she was going to die of happiness at that moment? The candy bar is Apollo. Haven’t seen that before.
What does it taste like?
-
It’s been 44 days our Losties have been on the island.
-
I was shocked when Locke told Desmond that
Kate was a fugitive. He did it for a reason though.
-
Claire found Charlie’s Virgin Mary.
He better not use the heroine inside.
-
Sawyer deduced that the Others came for Walt.
-
Michael broke Sawyer’s raft during his
spaz attack. He needs to calm down.
-
Desmond asked if everyone was sick on the
island. No one is so far.
-
I cracked a smile when Jin kept saying “Others.”
At least he’s trying his best to talk. And why was he tied up. I want answers.
Not as good as the premiere.
