...And Found
Episode 2.5

And now I have found a reason to like Jin. He’s actually one of my favourites now. Talk about a guy who loves his friends. Actually, I couldn’t believe how great Jin was this whole episode. The Tailies stuff was amazing; the rest of the stories lacked a bit of oomph.

You know what I loved about the flashbacks? Jin was a man. He didn’t cave into what was expected from him by his employer. That’s what I love to see. Jin at that point realized that there’s no point trying to cater to the rich if he’s going to disrespect other human beings. And going against an employer who’s given you a great job is just so tough to do. You really want to succeed. I know Jin did. His scene with the father and the son wanting to go to the bathroom was a classic. It’s probably one of my favourites on the show.

On Sun’s side, she’s being set up with another respectful man: Mr. Lee. I would kill my mother if she set me up with a blind date. I’m not kidding. And she started liking the guy. A Harvard graduate, Mr. Lee fell in love with an American woman. He couldn’t leave with her until he had the money he needed to run away with her. So he tells Sun this. This is after the two had agreed that they wouldn’t pursue this relationship. Sun however couldn’t help but fall in love. Love has no boundaries though and Sun was torn apart by this revelation.

Jin wasn’t ready to love. He said how could he take care of someone else when he couldn’t take care of himself. Of course, love was knocking on his door; he met Sun, who dare I say looked absolutely beautiful in the flashbacks. I was ready to propose to her right there. I understand why Jin fought to protect her.

The island stuff? Not that great. Yeah sure, a lot of the focus has been directed to the Tailies, but the episode was so unfocused that it didn’t even feature the hatch this week. Meanwhile, it was obvious, that Sun’s ring was with the bottle. It was fun to watch her rip apart her garden. Psycho Sun. I can’t believe all that work went in there for no reason, just so she could rip everything apart. Locke got there just in time to give some moral support.

Kate also had a great scene. When she learns that Sun has the message bottle, she’s eager to check it out. She’s rummaging through all the letters looking for Sawyer’s. She’s obviously felt hurt all this time. I thing she really wants to see him again.

Onto the Tailies, they’re coming to the Losties’ camp. Of course, Michael tried following the Others to find Walt. Thank goodness for Jin’s loyalty as he walks through the whole jungle trying to find him. As it turns out, Mr. Eko doesn’t want to leave anyone behind and he’s going to accompany the determined friend. This guy is just great—probably one of my new favourite characters. He risked his life so he could save one of his new friends. There’s something more to Eko though. I don’t know. He just seems weird.

Spotlight on…Sun and Jin

-          Sun is getting ready for a blind date. Her father and mother want her to find a husband now. Meanwhile, Jin is getting ready for a job interview. His friend tells him he should fall in love. Jin says in no way is he ready.

-          During the interview, Jin says he was one of the few at his old job to have gotten promoted. The manager of the hotel is impressed. He asks him about the village he’s from. The manager says he smells the fish on him. He says he wants Jin to forbid anyone from his own kind coming into the hotel.

-          Sun goes to the Gateway hotel where she meets Mr. Lee, her blind date. She is left alone with him and it seems she’s having a good time.

-          Mr. Lee gives a rose to Sun. He says he met an American woman he was planning on marrying. Sun seems hurt, but the two had an agreement. They weren’t going to pursue this relationship.

-          Jin is asked by a poor man of his son can use the hotel facilities. The manager sees this and scolds Jin. He quits.

-          Jin runs into Sun at the port. It seems they’ve both fallen in love at first sight.

Tales from the Island

Sun: I lost my ring. I’m telling you I checked everywhere: in my garden, in my clothes…everywhere. And I just couldn’t find it. Then Jack told me a story. He once lost his wedding ring. And he found it when he stopped looking. So I stopped looking. I waited for it to turn up somewhere. It did. Guess where it was. It had been buried with the message bottle. Can you believe that? I’m so relieved. But it was useless to worry. It shouldn’t matter. It’s just a thing. But it does matter. It’s the symbol of our marriage. I’ve been through so much with him.

Quotable Quotes

-          Ana-Lucia: “You keep slowing us down, we’re going to leave you behind.”

Sawyer: “Go ahead, leave me behind.”

Ana-Lucia: “See ya.”

-          Ana-Lucia: “We can’t wait for you.”

Eko: I don’t expect you to.” Why is she so crazy?

-          Michael: “Maybe you could just take a minute to explain us what the hell is going on over here that’s got you all so on edge.”

Ana-Lucia: “You know what? That’s a great idea, maybe we can swap stories on the road.” Hysterical.

-          Sawyer: “Are you married?”

Ana-Lucia: “No.”

Sawyer: “You seem suited for it.” This was great. An-Lucia’s face was priceless.

-          Sawyer (about Ana): “This chick needs to be slapped.” My favourite line of the night.

-          Hurley: “Seoul, is that the good Korea or the bad Korea.”

Sun: “The good one.” He’s so innocent.

-          Sun: “Hurley, this is ridiculous. Waiting or the dog to…”

Hurley: “Dude, dogs eat everything.” They do.

Some Final Notes

-          Ana-Lucia and Sawyer are great together. They feed off each other’s sarcasm and make me laugh all the time. That’s a good thing.

-          Jack says he lost his wedding ring to. He went as far as make a replica made so his ex-wife wouldn’t know.

-          Ana-Lucia, aggressive like usual, tried forcing Jin to catch fish their way. Jin, however, had all the fish caught in a matter of seconds. That shut Ana-Lucia up for a bit.

-          Hurley thought the dog ate the ring. He once had a dog that used to eat everything, he tells Sun. It ate $1,35 worth of nickels.

-          Sun’s dog was called Bpo-Bpo.

-          Jin finds a dead man in the jungle; Goodwin. It seemed Eko knew him because there was a scared face that appeared. Goodwin is an Other.

-          How scared were you when you saw the Others walk barefoot right in front of Jin and Eko. They look like savages. Why did one of them have a teddy bear?

These episodes don’t give me enough information. I want more. 4 stars
