Now who was abandoned? It was Shannon right? By her brother and stepmother. All in all, the episode was flawless.
I’ll maybe even go as far as call it the best episode of the season. Brilliant acting on Maggie Grace’s part.
The writers did a great job showing a different side to Shannon. They showed us how she got to this point in her life. Yeah, she’s a
spoiled bitch, but how did she get there?
I had so much sympathy for Shannon. Living with a
coldhearted stuck-up snob makes life really tough. Shannon lost her father, Mr. Rutherford, and she was left all alone. Literally. Her
father had a living trust, meaning all the money went to his wife. Shannon was left with nothing. She asked her
stepmom for some money just to get started at the prestigious internship she got. Could
that woman give a damn? You know, I don’t understand some people. Do they get a kick out of being mean to the people
they’re supposed to love? I mean seriously.
Then, Boone just abandoned her twice. He decided to take
the job offered by his mother. If he loved his sister so much, he would stay in New York with
her. Then of course, he abandoned her on the island. Shannon has been a mess ever since Boone’s death; she couldn’t recover.
This finally led to her demise.
She kept seeing Walt and no one believed her. I felt so happy
when Sayid saw Walt too. Who is that? It cannot be Walt. Was Sayid hallucinating too? Is Walt real? This is making me go crazy.
That’s impossible. You’re crazy to begin with. In the end, Walt caused
Shannon’s death. She goes running like a whacko into the jungle following him. Ana-Lucia hears something
and shoots. I don’t blame Ana-Lucia. She was trying to protect her people. How was she supposed to know who was running
out of the jungle?
A secondary plotline this week, Locke was enjoying island
baby’s company. Sorry, I just had to say island baby. Locke served two purposes
this week: 1) he gave Claire some kind of refreshing conversation. She’s been so bothered by the fact that she’s
getting lectured by other people how to take care of her child. It’s hurting her. 2) He had to bring up the Virgin Mary
statue to Charlie. I’m definitely disappointed. It’s so inspirational that he was able to stay away from the heroine
for so long. He’s a recoverin addict. He’s about to ruin it.
The trio is still with the Tailies. Not for long. There were
a lot of great moments featuring that side of the island. With Sawyer about to drop dead, all of them fought together to lift
him up the cliff in the jungle. I swear I felt tingling down my spine. What a great moment. They all fought to protect Sawyer
and I haven’t felt that good in a while. It’s sad how I rely on a show
to feel better.
Eko’s character has become a great part of the show.
He decides to risk all of the Tailies’ lives for Sawyer. This guy truly rocks. In a way, it shows he’s looking
for some kind of redemption. I don’t think Ana-Lucia understand this. She keeps thinking of what happened to them. It
seems children were taken from them. Libby mentions something like that. Then, Cindy just disappeared. She vanished. Now I understand why they’re so scared of the Others. I’m not kidding. She just DISAPPEARED.
Like usual, we’re going to have to wait forever to find out what happened to her. I hope not.
Spotlight on…Shannon
-
Shannon is ballet instructor. She gets a call from her stepmother saying there’s
been an accident and to come to the hospital right away. Mr. Rutherford was in a car crash. He died.
-
Boone comes to visit Shannon
at the funeral. She says she’s planning on getting an internship. She isn’t getting along with her stepmother.
-
Shannon got accepted into the program. She gets a call from her landlord. She learns
that her check bounced. She can’t pay rent. She wants the money from her father, but her stepmom says he had a living
trust. Everything goes to her. Sabrina won’t give her anything.
-
Boone asked him mom for some money. Sabrina
knows he’s doing it for her. She offered him a job meaning Shannon can’t stay with him in New York. He wants the job.
Tales from the Island
Shannon: I see Walt. Why can’t anyone believe me? I went to look for Walt’s
things so I can get Vincent to pick up a trail. As I was running with him, I just stopped in front of Boone’s grave.
I just couldn’t move. I still can’t. Sayid won’t believe me. I’m not dreaming. I really saw Walt.
He keeps saying some gibberish. I can’t understand it, but I’m going to prove that I’m not crazy if it’s
the last thing I do. I’m going to prove I’m right. I have to.
Quotable Quotes
-
Sawyer: “I did leave you behind.”
Michael: “Good
thing I ain’t you.”
-
Locke: “How’s that cradle treating
you?”
Claire: “The
cradle’s great. It’s the baby that’s the problem.”
-
Shannon: “So, does all this—the tent, flowers—mean that we’re
serious now?”
Sayid: “Quite
definitely not. I do this for all the girls I meet on deserted islands.”
-
Ana-Lucia: “If you think that one gun
and one bullet is gonna stop them…thing again.” I probably will think again.
-
Rose: “I don’t like the hatch.”
Hurley: “It’s
because of the doomsday button, isn’t it?”
-
Boone: “It’s a wake. Seriously,
who doesn’t serve booze at a wake?” Seriously.
-
Claire: “We’re playing mom and
dad to this baby and I don’t remember marrying him.” Me either.
-
Ana-Lucia (to
Eko): “I liked it better when you weren’t talking.” What a bitch.
-
Michael: “They took my son.”
Ana-Lucia: “They
took a lot of things.”
-
Sawyer: “Are you a doctor?”
Libby: “A clinical
psychologist.”
Sawyer: “A shrink.
Maybe you should talk to my shoulder.”
Some Final Notes
-
Did everyone notice Jack in the hospital pass
right next to Shannon? I did notice that.
-
Sayid set up that beautiful tent so he could
kick boots with Miss Shannon. Who ever said that Republican Guard soldiers can’t be romantic?
-
I liked when Sayid mentions he carries a gun
because he has someone to protect.
- Sawyer calls Ana-Lucia “Ponce de Léon.”
-
Rose says she doesn’t like the hatch.
-
Shannon sent Vincent to try and find Walt. Have I ever mentioned how much I’ve
loved that dog?
-
The Others came the first night and took three
Tailies. And then after two weeks, they came back and took nine.
-
Where did Cindy go?
-
What was Walt? Was it just a hallucination
or was it something else? Also, did you notice how Sayid started hearing the whispers again?
Awesome episode. 5 stars
