There sure was a collision today. The Tailies entered the
Losties’ camp. Can you say clash? I really felt for Ana Lucia though. She
didn’t do anything wrong. In fact, she did everything to keep everyone alive. How was she supposed to know that Shannon would run like a madwoman into the jungle?
As mean as this may sound, I wanted more. I wanted more of
a clash. I wanted more anger. I wanted more fighting. I’m a sadist I know.
But what they showed was beautiful. Before we get to Ana Lucia, I’d like to talk a bit about Sayid. Naveen Andrews was
fantastic this week. F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C. It wasn’t even his episode. He just delivered. Starting from the beginning,
you could see the burning anger in his eyes. He was just ready to pounce at Ana Lucia. Slowly, he discovered that the woman
is screwed-up. She doesn’t have her head screwed on right. Then at the end, when he confessed to all the crimes he committed
against the prisoners of war, I thought that should have bought him a ticket to the Emmys. Then, him carrying Shannon
out of the jungle sealed the deal. I’m serious. I’m stunned with Andrews.
Sayid and Ana Lucia have had similar lives. They’ve
both done regrettable things, but they try and move on. Both of them feel dead. Why make it official? You just have to love
Sayid in this situation. However angered he might have been, he couldn’t just finish the job. He knows what it’s
like to live with such unbearable pain. You can see he struggles. He’s had
much longer to learn how to live with the pain.
Once again, Michelle Rodriguez blew me away. I really like
Ana Lucia now. To sit there and confess her sins to Sayid felt right. She has a lot to feel bad about. Four months before
returning to work, she had been shot four times by a young twit named Jason. She lost her child. When the cops finally find
him, she didn’t let them arrest him; she took care of it. She was a little too
lethal there. I think she’s learnt though that what she did was unnecessary and ultimately, wrong. Killing shouldn’t
have been the answer to her problems.
I loved watching the shifting of power. Ana was losing power.
She didn’t have the control she’s had all this time. You can see it affect her. Bernard and Libby dared challenge
her. As it turns out, she let them leave. I think it was rude on Ana’s part to throw that kind of weight on their shoulders.
Bernard has been fighting all this time to get to his wife. She should have just let him go.
Again, I loved Eko this week. I can’t figure this guy
out, but I know he’s one of my favourites. He can’t let anyone under his watch die. I respect that. Ana doesn’t
understand it. Sawyer wouldn’t stop to save him; Eko doesn’t think like that. His scenes with Jack were majestic.
The scene where he mentions Ana Lucia was beautifully acted. You could feel the intensity in the room and AAA was the center
of the room. Jack was just as good, but I can’t stand Jack.
Now this is where the love triangle begins. Kate and Jack
were having a great time playing golf. They even went as far as to flirt. Sawyer wasn’t there. But going back to my
original idea, Kate is made to love Sawyer. Her face just changed when she saw Jack drag him into the bathroom. That scene
was intense when she whispered into Sawyer’s ear, forcing him to drink the pill. A
little too intense. Jack definitely got the hint; she loves him. Uh-oh.
I have to give a shout-out to the final scenes. I nearly
died of happiness when I saw Bernard and Rose reunite. What a beautiful scene. I loved watching Charlie run to Jin. They both
shared a great hug until Sun notices him through the hordes of people. This was an even greater reunion. I almost forgot Michael
and Vincent. Can I just say how much I love Vincent for running into Michael’s arms?
Spotlight on…Ana Lucia
-
Ana Lucia is at a shooting range. She later
visits a shrink. She’s been off work for four months. He is her ticket back. He asks about Danny, her old boyfriend.
He has taken off. She says she’s as ready as ever though. He hands her back her badge.

She originally assigns Ana to sit behind a desk. She wants back in the field. Ana says she wants a transfer if she won’t
get the car. Her mother caves in.

driving in a nice part of town until she gets a call. There’s been a disturbance call from a home three blocks away.
A man is leaving his girlfriend’s house. He wants to take her tv. She is yelling and screaming. Ana loses it and pulls
out her gun. She gets him on the floor, but she can’t put her gun back in. Her partner has to yell at her.
-
The cops find Ana’s shooter. She says
she doesn’t know him. He however confessed. She says that’s not him.
-
Ana follows Jason to his car. She was at a
bar. He doesn’t recognize her, but she tells him she was pregnant when he shot her. She ends it by putting five bullets
through him.
Tales from the Island
Ana Lucia: I lost control
again. I was letting everything slip from my hands. I thought he was going to kill me. As I was exchanging stories with this
man Sayid, I realized that I’m not a very good person. I might as well be dead. No one would miss me. I mean what’s
the point anyway. I was going to escape and leave on my own in the jungle. He said he didn’t want to hurt me. He was
in the same boat. He used to torture men for the army. He says he’s committed some bad things. But I wouldn’t
kill him.
Quotable Quotes
-
Shrink: “So, how’re you doing?”
Ana: “Well,
the family with the screaming baby moved out.” I hate screaming babies.
-
Captain Cortez: “They got you a cake.
Try and act surprised.” That’s such a mother thing to do.
-
Rose: “Jack, good to see you out of
the hatch. You could use more sunshine.” Does this woman have kids? She sounds like the best mom.
-
Kate: “We play for bragging rights.”
So far Kate, you’ve pulverized him.
-
Jack: “The lady’s tee at my club
back home is ten feet closer.”
Kate: “Shut
up Jack…” I loved this one.
-
Libby: “Ana, you can’t live here
alone.”
Ana: “I’m
already alone.”
-
Jack: “We didn’t learn the ‘whisper-in-the-ear
thing in med school.” Someone’s jealous.
-
Sayid (to
Ana): “Should you kill me. Maybe you should. Maybe you were meant to.”
-
Ana: “I feel dead.” This was powerful.
Some Final Notes
-
Ana seems like she loves those shooting ranges.
-
That Eko and Sayid fight was amazing. No one
can ever EVER take out Mr. Eko. It will never happen.
-
Rose was hysterical trying to tell Jack he
should spend more time inside. His island mother.
-
Jack was just terrible at golf. Kate was owning
him.
-
I really thought Ana was going to take off
and go live in the jungle. That would have been a waste.
-
Ana with Shannon’s body was
beautiful. That scene is a classic.
-
Jack really got affected when he heard Ana
Lucia survived. He really likes her.
Another good one. 4 stars
