The writers might have left me behind on this one. And it’s
such a shame too. I was looking forward to this episode. I was looking forward to the all-out girl war in the jungle and I
was looking forward to a nice reunion for us Jaters. But what the heck? We got a nice look at the monster, but it wasn’t
enough.
You guys know I’ve always been the one to get excited
over Kate flashbacks. These were good, but I wanted some more action. I thought it was genius to have her interact with Cassidy.
That was a genius plot point and I hope to see more of her soon. Who else has she conned?
But seriously, who would have thought that Kate would have ended with Sawyer on a creepy island? I liked how Cassidy continued
conning because it was the only thing she had left to remind her of Sawyer.
I have to admit that I don’t like Kate’s mom.
She is rude. Okay, Kate’s ways of working might be a bit unorthodox, but you don’t love a man who beats you. I
don’t understand. Interestingly enough, even after her husband’s death, Diane still claimed she loved him. That is despicable and I’m ready to shout it from the rooftops. Relax eh. Diane
thought she was doing Kate a favor not turning her in, like it really came from the heart. I’m sorry, your sister comes
before some psycho womanizer.
Then, Diane tries justifying her feelings by criticizing
Kate for not coming back to apologize, but merely coming back to discover why her mother turned her in. She shouldn’t
have even bothered; Diane doesn’t deserve it. She left Kate behind. That’s what the whole episode was about.
Sadly, she was left behind again by the only other person
she truly cares about. Is Jack really that ridiculous? Did it not occur to him
that Kate just forgave in front of him? She just kneeled down and cried on his lap. She apologized for returning and ruining
his ride home. All he can think of was Juliet. How insensitive can you get? And honestly, Jack and Juliet can stay in the
Others’ camp and live a happier life. I don’t want them back to camp.
I’m really going to enjoy our Losties’ reaction
when they see Juliet arriving hand in hand with Jack. I loved how Sayid wanted to leave her there. That’s a typical
Sayid move. How weird is Juliet? Who handcuffs herself to the person who hates her just so she can have some company? I was
so happy when Kate beat the crap out of her. I have never felt so good in my life. It’s
sad how I get happy over tv.
We got some monster action. Again, there wasn’t enough.
So it seems like the monster is able to take pictures? That’s my best guess so far. Juliet says they haven’t been
able to figure out what it’s for. So this thing doesn’t belong to the Others. Wow. And as for the Others, what
are they planning? Why do they just try and drop Juliet, Kate, Jack and Sayid like flies? Where did they all go? Where could
they all go? Did leaving Juliet behind mean they don’t consider her one of them? She says she was left behind by the
people who claimed to love her. That’s why she stayed with Kate. Touching.
How funny was Sawyer’s little adventures this week?
You’ve got to love Hurley. He’s the only one who can pull something like this off. Sawyer really did feel good
though, helping out people. I didn’t think for a second that they were going to banish him, but the whole thing just
worked. I nearly died laughing when we saw him give a blanket for the baby. How funny. Then he tried degutting a fish, something
everyone else has learned how to do. Then he went parading into the jungle with Desmond to hunt. I love this guy. I’m
going to enjoy him take control of the Losties. Is he really the new leader?
Spotlight on…Kate
- Kate’s car is being towed. She gets into a tow truck and stops off at
a gas station. She crosses path with Cassidy, Sawyer’s former con. She is trying to sell jewelry. It’s a con.
Kate catches on and helps her out.
- The two girls are at a bar. Cassidy wants to know about Kate. Cassidy tells
her about the man who broke her heart. She says she’ll help Kate find her mom.
- Kate walks towards her mother’s house. She is grabbed by the marshal.
It wasn’t Kate; it was Cassidy. Kate watches this from a distance. They meet at a hotel and Cassidy wants Kate to tell
her what she did.
- Cassidy is being served by Diane. She drops the food on her and Diane goes to
clean herself up. Kate comes to see her in the bathroom. Her mother won’t forgive her. She’s giving her time to
run. Next time she sees her, she’s calling the cops.
- Kate wants to help Cassidy find the man who conned her. She doesn’t want
to. She’s pregnant.
Tales from the Island
Kate: I told him everything.
I told Jack that I was sorry. I begged for him to forgive me. He didn’t care. He just ran right to Juliet. He didn’t
even know I was there. He wants to bring her back to our camp. Juliet claims Jack saw me sleeping with Sawyer in the cage.
How could I be so stupid? I don’t know how I feel about him? I just want things to be right between us again. I don’t
like the way things are going.
Quotable Quotes
- Juliet: “Enjoy your sandwich.”
- Cassidy: “Why did you help me?”
Kate: “One
girl watching over another girl’s back.”
- Locke: “I don’t want to go home.”
- Locke: “Let’s just say forgiving isn’t one of their strongpoints.”
What does that mean? More on Locke later on.
- Sawyer: “Well…sir…Hugo…are rotund, annoying, and you’re
hiding my damn view. How’s that for amends?” That’ll do.
- Cassidy: “I’ll set up a meeting with your mom only because one of
us deserves something good to happen to us.”
- Sawyer: “I’m not getting the Korean vote.”
- Kate: “Welcome to the wonderful world of not knowing what the hell is
going on.”
- Juliet: “Ben has a thing for mind games.”
Kate: “Is that
why he left you out here?” Oh, she’s good,
- Juliet: “Are we safe?”
Kate: “You
tell me.”
- Sawyer (about the baby): “He’s
not as wrinkly as he was a week ago.” LOL.
- Juliet (about her dislocated arm):
“Don’t flatter yourself. This is the fourth time this has happened.” Shut up.
- Kate: “I did it for you.”
Diane: “What
you did, you did it for yourself.”
- Sawyer: “What if I don’t wanna be leader?”
Hurley: “Jack
didn’t wanna be either. Sucks for you dude.”
Some Final Notes
- How does Juliet know how to fight so well?
- What is up with Locke? Has he become an Other? Are they going to visit the box?
He’s really getting to me. He said he couldn’t convince them to let her go.
- I freaked when Kate woke up chained to Juliet. That woman is weird. To tell
you the truth, today was the first time she really got to me.
- Watching Sawyer degut a fish is classic.
- The monster can’t go through the Others’ fence. How nice.
- Juliet snapped her shoulder back in. That was intense.
- Juliet had the freakin’ key the whole time. She went borderline on Rousseau
craziness. Did she not?
- The boar Sawyer found was huge.
- Something tells me Sayid won’t be the only one who has a problem with
Juliet coming to their camp. I can’t wait to see what’s next.
Not bad. Just not enough.
3 stars.
