This was a dark episode. The usual stand-alone mysteries
every week are not as gruesome as the E-string murders. I thought I was watching Law and Order: SVU. It was an abrupt change
and I don’t know if I liked it. Keith got some great action, but all in all, I found the episode slightly bizarre. We
learnt a lot about Mac (which is a good thing), but very little on the Lilly Kane murder. They are going to have to start
dropping hints because I need to know.
Did it not feel weird to see Keith as a cop? I thought he
was looking to punch Sheriff Lamb. He is so obnoxious. I felt like jumping into my tv screen and punching him. He is a great
character to have though. I love Veronica’s conversations with him. She hates him; he hates her. We’re all a big
happy family. Keith was right on every move. He knew that the pervert with the video cameras didn’t commit the crimes,
yet his stubborn sidekick, Lamb, kept pushing. In the end, Keith found the killer by himself (with Leo’s help). He is
the right person to be in office (I have a feeling though that Jake Kane is not the
person who killed Lilly Kane and as long as Keith believes that, he doesn’t stand a chance returning). I’m
happy the killer turned out to be that aggravating guitarist from back at the store. I hate him. He could have knocked Keith
out. That sure was close.
I’m glad we got a bit of a Mac backstory. She’s
such an interesting character and will sure come in useful to Veronica. Imagine learning that your life could have been completely
different. Mac could have been in Madison Sinclair’s house with her nice clothes and handbags. Instead, she lives with
an annoying brother and parents that love camping. They love her and that’s all there is to it. I love how Mac keeps
getting these ingenious ideas. Now she wants to start a website with Veronica to dish dirt on parents. Mac would be the computer
genius and Veronica would supply the information. It’s a great idea and Veronica does need the money.
The Lilly Kane Files
-
Clarence Wiedman made the phone call to tip
the police on finding Abel Kootz.
Quotable Quotes
-
Keith: “You don’t go to the Oceanside bars where all the college
kids hang out, do ya?”
Veronica: “I
prefer the biker bar by the train station. I get more attention there. I’m kidding.” Loved this one.
-
Veronica: “Sure you can
handle the truth? The 70s and 80s were not pretty decades for people. We've all seen the pictures.”
-
Veronica: “Deputy Lamb
is here. He's got the mayor with him.”
Keith: “Show him in.”
Veronica:
“Yeah, sure. I'll just have Rod Sterling wait out here on the couch.” You do that.
-
Veronica: “Can I get anybody
anything? Water? Coffee? (looks at Lamb) A
banana?” This was great.
-
Veronica: “Thanks for
being such a great host. Martha Stewart has nothing on you.” Even better.
-
Keith: “We can’t
eliminate the possibility that it was someone else.”
Lamb:
“OK, who? Jake Kane?” You went too far!
-
Mac: “She wouldn't know
Monet's Water Lilies unless Revlon named a nail polish after it.”
Some Final Notes
-
Can you imagine Madison Sinclair living like
Mac? I would love to see that.
-
Again no Logan.
-
I like Leo. He sounds like a decent guy who
fell for Veronica. Then he pays dearly for it. Poor guy.
-
So, Clarence Wiedman made the phone call.
I’m starting to guess that the murderer is someone related to the Kane household. Was he protecting someone? Is that
why he turned in the wrong man? I loved how Veronica sent pictures of him to his office. She can be scary.
-
Veronica is seventeen. I thought she was eighteen.
I wasn’t crazy about
the episode. 3 out of 5 stars.
