Mars vs. Mars
Episode 1.14

We got some Keith versus Veronica action. Although I was expecting more of a conflict between the two Mars, this episode was satisfying. We got some excellent Logan and Veronica scenes, we got some major insight on the Lilly Kane murder case and we got an excellent stand-alone story. I love this show on so many levels that it’s hard to explain. Just try.

The rape/sexual harassment case filed against Veronica’s favourite teacher, Mr. Rooks, was interesting. I actually thought throughout the whole episode that Carrie was really the one who had been seduced by Mr. Rooks. I did not expect that twist with Susan Knight. That was good. In the beginning, when Veronica had flashbacked to a scene in the girls’ bathroom, I felt no sympathy for Carrie. She was the Queen of Gossip and she deserved that title. She’s just lucky that Veronica was not as tough back then. In the end though, I respected her. She stood up for her friend and fought through all those lies and trash-talking. I didn’t know that someone like Carrie had it in her. What a mean thing to say. I didn’t catch why Susan didn’t want to turn Mr. Rooks in. Did she have feelings for him? Does she still have feelings for him? Veronica, like a good friend, got to the bottom of it all and helped a person she despised. Is that why we love Veronica? Ya, pretty much. Veronica was just brilliant. She has a different perspective on her work. She views a case in a different angle. She’s more creative than her father and is capable of disproving anyone. I was actually surprised that she would dare come into Mr. Rooks’ house. That’s where I think Veronica still shows signs of immaturity. She should have been suspicious. Meanwhile, he was ready to seduce her. I have to admit though, she’s quick. She got out of there in a hurry.

I found the Logan storyline underwhelming. I loved the Logan/Veronica scenes, but deep down, I wanted Lynn to be alive. I also love how Weevil keeps doing favors for Veronica. He doesn’t owe her that much. What’s the total amount of times he’s helped her? A whole lot.

So, Duncan is epileptic. I should have seen that one coming. There are so many hidden secrets involving Duncan. Is he somehow involved in Lilly’s death? He has type four epilepsy. What’s up with him? Could Veronica have been more careless by leaving Duncan’s medical file in the newspaper room, lying in plain sight? What’s up with that? Also, what’s up with Abel Koontz? He’s dying. So knowing he would die, he confessed to killing Lilly. Why? There has to be something else. I’m surprised that Koontz allowed another visit with Veronica. Good stuff.

The Lilly Kane Files

-          Duncan has type four epilepsy.

-          Abel Koontz is dying. Is that why he confessed?

Quotable Quotes

-          Veronica: “You know that eye witness who’s been clogging up the airwaves…”

Logan: “Opportunistic hag?”

Veronica: “That’s the one.” It’s true. She was in it for the money and that’s it.

-          Rooks: “She's usually pretty gregarious. She must really dislike you.”
Veronica: “There's a club she can join.”

-          Logan: “What are you going to stop me with?”

Veronica: “Force of will, strength of character, tenacity, and karate chop.”

-          Logan: “You know, I am sure the trailer payments must be high. And what with the high price of Spam these days...”

-          Veronica: “I used you then fell for you.” She likes Leo. I’m not so sure I do. He’s not fun enough. Veronica needs someone more sarcastic in her life. Maybe she can date Logan.

-          Keith: “I don’t want you seeing Kid Rock.”

-          Logan: “I usually avoid buildings with stained glass.”

Veronica: “That’s why you haven’t come visit.”

-          Logan: “This isn't a favor. It's a job. We're not exchanging friendship bracelets."
Veronica: "I'll stop braiding.”

-          Veronica: “Tell me were you want me to put your father of the year trophy because there’s some place I want to put it.” Loved this one.

-          Veronica: “Yes. I’m petite and it does come in handy now and then.” That’s true.

-          Keith: “Honey, if I were in trouble, I'd want you at my side.”

-          Veronica: “You’re dying, Abel.” This is great.

Some Final Notes

-          Does Veronica have a line of men wrapped around her finger? I like how Cliff and Weevil always come in handy.

-          Weevil must have really scared that movie-maker kid.

-          That Lynn Echolls fan was freakish. She had a binder filled with pictures of Lynn and Aaron.

-          I liked Carrie.

-          Not enough Wallace in the episode.

-          We got a short flashback this week. I’m hoping for more.

-          I loved how Keith tricked Veronica with the safe.

Loved this episode. It had a great plot with a meaningful story. 5 stars
