Return of the Kane
Episode 1.6

Unbelievably good. This show is AWESOME. This was another great episode with a hundred different storylines all coming together to make sense. It was absolutely perfect. Veronica is struggling on whether to support her social class, or the one she used to live in. Duncan finally opens from his shell, no longer restrained by his friends. We learn of Logan’s twisted family life. Neptune High was victim to conspiracy and there’s more news on the Lilly Kane murder.

There’s nothing better than a school conspiracy to get Veronica out of bed in the morning. She was itching for a story that would make the elections memorable. She is against the status quo and so were ¾ of the student body. The 09ers, with their Pirate Points, are aloud to buy take out and have it delivered to the school’s doorsteps. This school is pathetic. Wanda Varner, an old friend of Veronica’s, is caught buying food. She ends up running for president. Because this is Neptune High, the votes are rigged. The producers did a great job of showing the town’s conflict in the school itself. The rich people get all the benefits, while the poor people are left with nothing. The 09ers can buy take out, while the normal kids cannot. Is cheerleading really considered a sport?

Duncan was finally able to emerge from his cocoon. He’s not at all like Logan. He is a normal teenage boy pressured by his overprotective father to be someone he’s not. In the end, Duncan not only awarded Pirate Points to any students involved in the community, he also became a great President. The writers have some sort of sympathy for Duncan. He’s not a vicious psychopath like his friend Logan. It’s as if Veronica has had an influence on him. When she had accused him of being a bystander, he was really affected. Veronica was out of line, but Duncan got a reality check. He’s an innocent guy who deserves much more then self-absorbed parents and wild friends. He needs Veronica. Did I just say that? Scratch that. I want Veronica.

I knew that Logan had to have had psycho parents. How else would someone turn out to be like that? When he organized the skid row boxing competition, you could see that he’s a troubled young man. He isn’t evil. He’s been exposed to pain. He saw the pain he caused when he saw the video clip on the internet. There was a moment when he was regretful. He saw the crowd go wild. Over what? He couldn’t understand. Not to mention the fact that Aaron has never been a father. Away shooting blockbuster movies, he is an absent role model, who’s married an alcoholic. He beats Logan. He bullies Logan. He scares Logan. I felt so grateful when Logan lied to the press, saying that his father would donate a half-million dollars to the shelter. Aaron deserved it.

The Lilly Kane Files

-          Veronica realized that the crime scene pictures never added up. On the night of Lilly’s death, the Sheriff’s department photographed a pair of shows as being in Lilly’s room. When they arrested Abel Koontz, the same pair of shoes was found in his house. Who planted them there? They were unique because Veronica wrote on them herself.

-          Abel Koontz will die of lethal injection in the coming weeks.

Quotable Quotes

-          Veronica: “My dad’s gone a bit nutty nutty with the father daughter days.” Poor Keith wants to spend time with her daughter.

-          Keith: “This town’s gonna have to have another conspiracy nut.” There’s only you Keith.

-          Lilly: “My soul is doomed to walk the Earth till justice is served.” Very buffy-like.

-          Lilly: “I was awesome.” Loved that.

-          Veronica: “On Fridays, Sloppy Joes are your best bet.” I was ecstatic when Veronica said this to Madison Sinclaire.

-          Logan (sarcastically): “Look, I just don’t have the time to be responsible for every bad thing that happens in your life.” I love this.

Some Final Notes

-          Love Lisa Rinna as Logan’s mom.

-          Great seeing Jake Kane so happy for his son

-          Duncan will turn out to be a great president.

-          I hate Madison Sinclair.

-          Loved that Ms. Mallory Dent supported Veronica. We need more of these teachers.

-          Love how Veronica has a habit of barging in and solving mysteries. Who invited you here?

-          Is Mr. Clemmons so pretentious that he doesn’t see what goes on inside his school? A normal principal would abolish the Pirate Points.

-          I felt bad for the African American man at the car wash. He really should have beaten Logan to the ground.

This was an excellent episode. Veronica Mars is just so good. I need this show. 5 out of 5 stars.
