Like a Virgin
Episode 1.8

What can jealousy push one to do? Perhaps push one to fake one’s purity test and post it on the web or perhaps, ruin one’s reputation. I felt so bad for Meg. She is such a good girl. She cares about other people and she’s another friend for Veronica. She’s vulnerable and intimidated, but innocent. Completely innocent. And she made friends with Veronica. An 09er makes friends with Veronica. Talk about weird.

If you noticed, Veronica was much more determined to solve the mystery of The Purity Test than any of the other lesser mysteries we’ve seen. She feels for Meg. Do you think Veronica is getting soft? She knows what it’s like to be rejected and hurt. Veronica lost Duncan, Lilly, her mother and then found out that the whole school hated her. She was in Meg’s shoes. When Meg asked her how she dealt, Veronica says, “You get tough.” That’s exactly what happened. She learnt to deal with what she had: herself. She got smart and even. I’m surprised Logan was not in the episode. Can you imagine him picking fun at Veronica? I would have killed to see that.

We finally had some sort of a Wallace backstory. One can see how the news and gossip of the Mars family spreads throughout the town. It was irresponsible for Alicia to believe the lies. Then, she was rude to Veronica. If only she knew what people were like at Neptune High. She would be begging for Wallace to stay with Veronica. I did feel for her though. That neighbor of hers sure was psycho. What’s a single mother supposed to do? People take advantage of her. It isn’t fair. Luckily, Keith stuck his nose where it didn’t belong. He was hysterical when he was barking and screaming. I love this guy.

The Abel Koontz interview caught me by surprise. Veronica really let him get to her head. Is she starting to believe all of this? Does she really believe she’s Jake Kane’s daughter? And Duncan’s sister. Okay, too much incest. This could be an interesting thing though. I’m not sure I want Keith out of the story, but I want to see how Veronica will be motivated by this news. She started crying in the car, which means two things: 1) She really loves her dad (duh!) and 2) She could be a potential target. Think of Celeste when she finds out about this. Think of Jake Kane when he learns he might have another heir. Or do they both know? Who else would take those pictures of Veronica? Abel Koontz was very nasty. He knew that it was Veronica. He still made sure she came. Did he want her to freak out? Is he maybe trying to stir up trouble in the Kane household? This is going to be juicy.

The Lilly Kane Files

-          Abel Koontz confirms that Jake Kane is her father.

Quotable Quotes

-          Veronica: “Sometimes, people find it very hard to say no to me.”

-          Meg: “What’s your score?”

Cole: “Uh, 91”

Dick: “Dude. Snow White took it and got an 89.” Loved this one.

-          Veronica: “Meg, you're the last good person at this school. I'd believe cartoon birds braided your hair this morning.” Loved this one even more.

-          Veronica: “I suppose the only surprise was that it took so long for them to come after me.” I thought so too. I thought she was at the top of the list.

-          Veronica: “I admit it. I splurged and spent ten bucks to read my own purity test. Apparently, I've pleasured the swim team while jacked up on goofballs.” I was laughing for awhile.

-          Veronica: “Don’t worry. It’s his specialty: Bustin’ heads and breaking bones.” Loved this one.

-          Veronica: “Congratulations Dick. You just made my list.” Don’t get Veronica angry.

-          Veronica: “Does it ever bother me what people say? Okay, once in a while. It depends who’s listening.”

-          Keith: “They barely let me socialize with myself. I’m a bad influence.” Great.

Some Final Notes

-          I love Mac. I want so see more of her. She’s Veronica Mars’ version of Marshall.

-          I love Meg. Better see more of her.

-          When Veronica damaged Dick’s car, I was smiling for awhile

-          I’m getting annoying.

-          Kristen Bell can deliver. The car scene outside the prison was great. She’s been through so much, and there’s so much more waiting.

-          Where was Weevil?

-          What was Wallace’s brother’s name?

-          I’m getting even more annoying.

This was a good episode. Are there any bad ones? This was not groundbreaking though. Love Meg. 4 out of 5 stars.
