Happy Go Lucky
Episode 2.21

And I thought they weren’t going to have an incredible end to the story. Even if next week’s episode sucks, I will be completely satisfied with this season. This episode was beautifully organized and I can truly sense some good things coming up in the finale. The Aaron Echolls trial turned out to be dramatic as well as disappointing. All in all, one of the best episodes ever.

Although many have complained that Veronica isn’t as emotionally involved in the mystery as she was last year, we can all agree that Veronica had plenty of emotions to deal with. Aaron Echolls was found not guilty. I knew it. No way would an actor that famous be found guilty in Neptune. It bugs me. I can’t see how the jury would fall for such an act. But this is a typical Hollywood trial. The defendant hires an excellent lawyer who is able to dig up any type of evidence he wants. This lawyer makes a fool out of the witnesses and so one…It would be nice to be rich. Furthermore, Veronica screwed her future up by leaving the examination room. There goes the Kane scholarship. Veronica won’t be getting into Stanford any time soon. Honestly, I think Veronica is going to go through a breakdown any time soon. One person cannot handle everything Veronica handles.

The cross-examination was the best part. Lavoie tried really hard to break Logan but he couldn’t. Logan laid it all out in front of him. What might have killed Logan is the fact that he destroyed the tapes. It ruined their chances to lock up Aaron. Although it was despicable, it was interesting for the audience to see Keith find out about Veronica’s Chlamydia that way. Lavoie had no right to bring that up, but he did. I’m glad Keith didn’t go all psycho about it. He understands that every girl is aloud to some privacy. In Veronica’s case, a lot. Keith understands what his daughter goes through every day. What he doesn’t condone is the bigger elements of her life she keeps secret. She didn’t tell him that she broke into the Mannings’ home. That’s only one example. Keith always thought he had a good relationship with his daughter. It turns out it’s superficial. He knows this now. He looks like a complete fool in front of everyone when the lawyer knows more about his daughter than he does. It’s embarrassing.

Lucky opened up a lot of doors for the Mars. Lucky sent Woody tons of e-mails with poetry and threats. Why he hated Woody was never revealed in those e-mails. Luckily, Veronica found an excerpt of a conversation between three guys. We recognize the voice of two boys: Peter Ferrer and Marcos Oliveres. Both of them were on Woody’s little league team. They were molested. So did Woody kill them to keep his secret? Keith better catch him. I was angry with the way Lucky left the show. He went crazy when he ran in shooting in the cafeteria. I thought Jackie was a goner for sure. Luckily, Wallace was there to save the day. I really thought Wallace was a goner when he got shot. But it turns out it was a stupid toy thing. That bugged me.

All of Veronica’s friends are staying in Neptune and she decides to get as far away as possible. Mac and Wallace are going to Hearst. I’m guessing that’s where she’ll be going now. I just want her to be happy. Is that too much to ask? I wonder what Weevil is going to do. He passed high school. Is he going to college or will he work in his garage. The PCHers screwed him up. He could have been something more important and more influential. He used to intimidate everyone in his gang. He is honorable and in some cases, smart. I hope Rob gives him a good future.

The Bus Crash Files

-          Marcos Oliveres and Peter Ferrer were both molested by Woody. A recording was found. The voices were matched.

-          Woody escaped. He had a private plain. Tracking him down is the most important thing at the moment.

Quotable Quotes

-          Gia: “That's for saving my life.”
Veronica: “What do I have to do for a pie?”

-          Keith: “Can you fly to New York, stop by NYU real quick, find Rick Pickett and see if he was one of the bat boys Woody molested?”
Veronica: “You know I don't fly coach.”

-          Weevil: “‘Kay, you put another “x” on that paper and we're gonna have a problem.”
Mac: “I’d put little smiley faces, but I don't know if that's gonna sell ‘wrong’.”

-          Woody: “Most adults don't have their children doing espionage work for them.”
Keith: “Most adults keep their hands off of other people's children.”

-          Veronica: “Hey, Cassidy. Who's Amber?”
Cassidy: “I have no idea.”
Veronica: “They keyed the wrong car? How's Amber gonna know she's a bitch?”

-          Veronica: “The password. Give it.”
Keith: “You'll remember it. It's ‘Mr. Goodwood’.”
Veronica: “I'm so not touching his keyboard.”

-          Keith: “I’m thinking about getting you some of sort of giant hamster ball so you can roll everywhere in this protective sphere.”

Veronica: “It’d just draw attention to me. Nobody likes a blond in a hamster ball.”

-          Keith: “I’m not a fifteen year-old boy, Woody. You don’t scare me.” I’m glad he got that across.

Some Final Notes

-          What kind of an idiot could you be to believe Aaron’s performance? His testimony made no sense. Why would Lilly take his Oscar statue? Seriously.

-          Beaver had to help Weevil with algebra. In turn, Weevil would fix his car. I liked how Mac intervened to save Beaver’s ass. We love Mac.

-          I still can’t believe Veronica threw her scholarship away. I can’t believe it.

-          Jackie took off early for Paris. Wallace looked heartbroken.

-          Wallace’s speech to Veronica before writing her exam was beautiful. He says their friendship was worth “getting taped on the pole.”

-          In 1987, Aaron was named Sexiest Man Alive. So?

-          Veronica went to study with Gia at her house. For starters, Gia is another of those obsessed Myspace users. Relax. Second, the scene in the guestroom was as scary as the last year’s finale scene in Veronica’s car with Aaron.

-          Why would Keith e-mail his daughter telling her the verdict is in? Doesn’t he know better?

-          I don’t know why Logan went to see his father. I couldn’t believe Aaron had the guts to ask his son to lie. How does he do that?

-          Mr. Lobo provided Terrence Cook with an alibi. In return, Terrence becomes Lobo’s lackey.

I loved it. Best episode of the season so far. 5 stars
