Episode 2.22

Wow. I am speechless. Seriously speechless. Every mystery was resolved and the season ended with a brilliant finale. Let’s just jump right in.

Let’s get the whole bus crash thing explained. Cassidy killed the eight students on the bus. He was part of Woody’s little league team alongside Marcos Oliveres and Peter Ferrer. They mustered up the courage to decide to spill the truth. Cassidy was against the whole idea. He didn’t want anyone knowing the truth. I can understand. What I can’t understand is how psycho he got. How could he just willingly pull the plug on the two kids?

When I look back on the season, I feel like an idiot for not picking it off. It makes total sense. Cassidy planted the rat, getting himself out of the bus. He knew Dick would call for a limo so he waited until the bus was where it was supposed to be. Using his cell phone, he dialed the number and Boom! Do we all remember Curly Moran? Well, Moran gave him the explosives. Cassidy knew he was the stunt man in an action movie so he knew he had explosives. Moran figured it out. Cassidy meanwhile learnt of Cervando’s betrayal of the Fitzpatricks. He blames the crash on Moran and Weevil takes care of business. This is where the footage from Thumper’s phone was taken. When Weevil didn’t finish the job, Cassidy did it himself. I’m telling you, he’s a psycho. He knew Veronica was going to be a key witness in the Echolls trial so he tried even harder to incriminate Aaron. He later used Veronica to get his father out of the city. He inherits all the money he needs. Life is great.

His actions are unforgivable, but they are to a certain degree, understandable. He was molested as a child. Living with that memory day after day is rough. Add on the fact that he lived with a father who was more interested in his “manlier” son and a rich gold-digging cheerleader. Also, he hasn’t once been called by his real name. Everyone’s called him Beaver all this time. Like I said, his actions are not forgivable, but they are understandable. I also understand why the writers saw the need for Cassidy to kill himself. His trial would never be as interesting as the Echolls story. Smart move. Oh and I forgot to mention: he raped Veronica.

She had a lot of reasons for hating Cassidy. He killed eight kids on the bus (notably Meg), he raped her, and he killed her father (or so she thought). I actually thought she was going to kill Beaver on the rooftop. Kristen Bell definitely delivered. She was exceptional. The scenes of the rooftop were exceptional. I liked the dreams she was having about what her life “should have been.” Keith was still sheriff. Lianne was still there. Lilly was still alive. She was dating Logan. The perfect 09er life though had its downside. Veronica never met Wallace Fennel. I think her life now is better than anything it could have been. That’s my thought.

I’m wondering what the new season is going to bring for our favourite tv father and daughter. Keith caught Woody and bought Veronica two tickets to New York. Last minute, he stood her up at the airport. That’s not something Keith would normally do. What was in the suitcase that could have been so important? I love the fact that Kendall is involved.

In more ways than one, Kendall was an important to the season. She was first introduced as the gold-digging wife of Dick Casablancas Sr. and the step-mother of dumb-ass Dick and shy Cassidy. There was nothing else to this Kendall Casablancas. Well, we learnt her real name was Priscilla Banks. She was linked to the Fitzpatricks and had a thing going on with McCormick Fitzpatrick. Now she’s separated out favourite characters. Kendall, it better be worth it.

I really liked how Jackie’s story wrapped up. I wonder how many kids like her there are out there. She got mixed up with the wrong things: drugs and gangs. Oh and she has a child. It’s no wonder she was that good at waitressing. I’m glad Veronica set everything straight and made her go see Wallace. He himself had a lot of soul searching to do this year and Jackie helped him find himself. Too bad Jackie isn’t the one for him. Her mother isn’t a model or does she live in the West side; she’s a waitress who had a one night stand with Terrence. I wanted more with the Jackie storyline, though.

Logan’s story ended beautifully. In the first episode, his relationship with Veronica wasn’t on the best terms. To say the least. He ends up saving Veronica and guess what, gets back together with her. He saved her on the rooftop and stayed with her after her dad supposedly died. Let’s see how long this new thing with Veronica is going to last. For now, I hope for the best.

The Bus Crash Files

-          Cassidy was the killer. He was molested by Woody and blew the bus up to keep the two other victims from speaking out.

Quotable Quotes (there are a lot)

-          Aaron: “Well, I need a place to stay. How are the suites?”
Logan: “Well, probably an improvement over your previous digs. Might be a little weird, though. I don’t think any of the other guests killed anyone.”

-          Keith: “How’s Logan taking the news?”
Veronica: “Shrugs it off. Calls himself Little Orphan Annie. Which I think means...badly.”

-          Veronica: “Why are you here?”
Logan: “Yeah, I didn’t know you could come out during daylight hours.”
Kendall: “I have a business proposition for your father.”
Veronica: “Okay, but I’m warning you: he doesn’t carry much cash.”

-          Keith: “You all packed?”
Veronica: “Vagabond shoes and all. And pepper spray, for if we run into that Trump character.”

-          Veronica: “Where’s your brother?”
Dick: “I think he took Ghost World up to his room. They’re probably up there making love. Or playing Dungeons and Dragons. Or both, at the same time. They’re both, like, 12th-level dorks. I’m just sayin’.”

-          Duncan: “CW?”
Clarence Wiedman: “It’s a done deal!” We’re seeing Veronica Mars on the CW next year baby!

-          Veronica: “I don’t know if I like the idea of you running around a place full of armed drunk business men.”
Keith: “That’s why I rarely go to
Texas.”

-          Clemmons: “I can’t decide if my life will be easier or more difficult with you gone. Anything I should know in case I get another one like you someday?”
Veronica: “Don’t keep all your passwords taped on the bottom of your stapler, and stay cool Mr. C.”

Some Final Notes

-          I’m glad everyone cheered for Veronica during graduation. She was shocked to hear the crowd go wild for her. Keith was ecstatic. You’d think Lianne could show up.

-          We caught a glimpse of Alicia in the crowd. The writers never told us how things are going between Wallace and herself or Keith and herself for that matter.

-          We saw Duncan again. He’s in Mollymook, Australia. I’m glad he took care of Aaron. Now everyone can move on.

-          Was it necessary for Kendall to sleep with Aaron? That’s just a thought.

-          Mac got the scare of her life. Psycho Beav stole her clothes and phone. I’m glad she’s not dead.

-          I can’t believe Lamb arrested Weevil. How can he be so hard as to arrest him during graduation? He couldn’t wait ten minutes. What’s going to happen to him now?

-          Dick didn’t graduate. I’m guessing that’s only because Mr. Wu told him he has to go to summer school. I don’t think we’ve seen the last of Dick.

-          I almost forgot to mention Vinnie Van Lowe. He’s in jail. Poor Vinnie. It seems Keith will have to split the cash with him. Ten thousand is still nice.

-          Kendall walked off as the happiest of all. She has eight million dollars stacked up from the Phoenix properties. Cassidy bet against incorporation. Cassidy ended up helping her after all.

-          Aaron is out of the way. Of course, it wouldn’t do the character justice if he wasn’t having sex in his last scene.

-          I loved the idea of Lilly seeing her own memorial plaque. Sad, but a good idea.

-          When are we going to hear from Lianne again?

I’m sure I missed something, but this episode rocked. Did I like season 2? It was different. Veronica wasn’t as emotionally involved as I would have liked but the Meg storyline and the final episodes kicked ass. College here we come! 5 stars
