Nothing
like a little homecoming to really get this season started. I like where the writers are taking Wallace this season. The Nathan
Woods storyline didn’t sound like a good idea at first, but now, it makes so much more sense. The story isn’t
about Alicia; it’s about Wallace. Also, Jackie has become a multi-layered character as well. She might still be a bitch,
but at least now we know she’s screwed up for a fact. Like I said, nothing like a little homecoming…
We saw
a different side to Veronica. It was very different. For starters, she didn’t
burn Jackie the way she should have. I was completely shocked with Jackie’s behaviour. Veronica helped her find the
woman responsible for the credit card theft. The least she could have done was say “thank you.” This was exactly
what I was hoping for, except Veronica let me down. She was going to retaliate, but Wallace made it clear: he didn’t
want her to. Since when does Veronica listen to Wallace? That’s exactly the problem. Wallace knows it and so does Veronica.
For the past two years, Wallace has been waiting on Veronica hand and foot. The one time Wallace needs her help, she couldn’t
give a hoot. No one does. I think that was a sign of maturity when Veronica decided
not to play the recording. I wanted Jackie to pay, but it just wasn’t worth it. There’s one thing I don’t
understand: why was Wallace so angry at the dance when Veronica confronted Jackie? Shouldn’t he have been happy? Doesn’t
that mean Veronica cares about him? I’m lost.
Wallace
has indeed changed. He no longer is Veronica’s sidekick. He has learnt to be rejected. This is why the past week or
so were so rough on him. He had no one to turn to. His girlfriend is a bitch and his best friend never asks about him. She
never even asked if he was feeling okay about his reappearance. To Veronica, Nathan Woods’ presence was cool. It wasn’t.
I also
thought Wallace standing up to his mother was awkward. Alicia was trying to protect her son. I think she was right to shield
him from the truth. She knew that Nathan would come to ruin everything. Wallace has run away and left behind his mother and
little brother. That’s uncharacteristic of Wallace. Alicia is a great character. She represents every average woman
out there who has had her share of good times and bad. That’s life. Deal with
it.
I’m glad Duncan and Logan have kissed and made up.
They are best friends and this “anger” wasn’t working for me. Seriously.
So, they played a bit of virtual golf, ate some food, and made up. I’m sick and tired of seeing Logan as the bad guy. He was right
to accept Duncan’s offer and that is that. Veronica might have his head now for dancing
with Jackie. It didn’t look like he wanted to dance with her.
A few years back, Keith, supposedly out on patrol, stopped
Doyle for drunk-driving and didn’t follow protocol. Lamb uses this bit of information against him. Should we expect anything less? Keith is a great guy. He would never stoop to Lamb’s level, but I really
wanted him to. I was also hoping Veronica would go to the press about the recording. To Veronica, this election is a game.
She wants to see the opposition suffer. She doesn’t value what Keith values. That’s her weak point. She probably takes that from Liane.
The Bus Crash Files
-
Before the crash, a passenger on the bus,
Rhonda called her best friend. She left a message on her friend’s phone. We can hear that there was an explosion before
the bus fell off the cliff.
-
Ed Doyle could not have been responsible.
Quotable Quotes
-
Teacher: “Homecoming season is upon
us.”
Veronica: “Much
like the plague.”
-
Veronica: “You know that blanketing
the electorate is like a figure of speech.”
-
Veronica: “Outlet therapy is considerably
better than retail therapy.”
-
Veronica (to
Duncan): “You’re hear for your looks. Leave the heavy thinking to me,
Sugarpants.” That would probably be the best idea.
-
Corny: “I'd like to nominate
Veronica Mars. Yeah. She's badass, smoking hot, and overall nice to come home to.” That’s nice Corny.
-
Logan: “Veronica Mars. Saving the world, one pointless act at
a time.”
-
Logan: “There's always Winter Carnival. Veronica can be an ice
princess.”
Jackie: “Can we skate on her?”
-
Veronica (answering the phone): “Chesty La Rue. Hey, Duncan. I'm fine, I'm slathering up my boobs as we speak. Can
I call you back?”
Some Final Notes
-
The Finnel family used to live in Cleveland. Wallace’s “father’s” name is Hank Finnel.
-
It was nice to see Mandy come back from the
episode “Hot Dogs.” She was one of Veronica’s strong supporters.
-
I liked how Veronica had to “smash some
skulls” to keep Wallace in the mix.
-
Jackie says she visits the psychic because
she wants someone to tell her everything’s alright. That’s what her grandmother would do for her.
-
I found Alicia’s remarks harsh when
she hinted at Keith’s bad parenting.
-
Percy Daggs lll has a great singing voice.
-
I like the fact that Duncan invited Logan over to his suite. He’s really trying to mend the relationship.
-
I like how Veronica sent Lamb a bug. It was
really in the form of a bug. She used a Kane Softwares stationary.
-
Lamb really blackmailed Terrence Cook. He
owes three million dollars because of gambling debt.
-
How weird was it when Madame Sophie saw Lilly?
That must have been fake.
-
I liked Wallace’s plea to Veronica to
let Jackie off the hook.
-
“The Faders” were a very good
band.
Excellent. 5 stars
