We can all agree that Veronica
Mars hasn’t been as kick-ass as usual this season, but this episode was really good. I thought of something: the
core cast members have to be in every episode. Weevil has added something new to the season. His relationship with Veronica
reminds us of high school. In this case, that’s a good thing. I love holiday-themed episodes and this one was very well
done.
It’s important for a show to make references to its
past stories. This way, the die-hard fans can really get a thrill of following a show. Noting Lilly’s death and the
impact on Veronica’s life was greatly appreciated. I miss you Lilly. It was
great to talk about the necklace Lilly had given Veronica and how much that necklace meant to our heroine. Lilly is still
alive and well in her heart. Veronica says she has been thinking a lot about Lilly recently. Lilly would have been in college
with Veronica. Her life would have been completely different. Whether Veronica enjoys the life she has now is arguable, but
Lilly’s death sure had an impact on this new life. College is a new chapter in her life. She left behind the headaches
of high school. She hated everything at Neptune High, except for Lilly’s memory. Now, away from Neptune High, it’s
important to keep her legacy alive and strong. Finding the necklace motivated Veronica. If something is important to her,
she will fight for it until the end.
I would have liked to have had more scenes taking place during
the robbery. They should have maybe even done like a hostage storyline. The story with the little girl was creepy however.
That little girl was a freak. I was ecstatic when Veronica ripped the necklace
from her. I felt like telling Veronica, “can you slap her too?” What
did Veronica dress up as? I’m really bad with guessing costumes.
I’m glad Weevil’s storyline remained important
to the A-plot of this week’s story. Along with Veronica, Weevil himself still remembers Lilly. He also remembers what
happened in high school. He was completely shocked when he learned Veronica was dating Logan. I don’t blame him. Logan isn’t
exactly gentleman-like. As Weevil was getting arrested, Logan was mocking him. I found
that a bit immature and out of character. This is perhaps the reason why all fans like Weevil. He has always been a target
and people can relate to that.
I was shocked with Wallace this week. I understand college
is hard. One lousy test mark isn’t going to end your career. Cheating, however, might. I thought Wallace was too good
for that. I can’t cheat. I have a guilty conscience. His friend led Wallace
to go meet some “tutor” that sold study guides for $100. I’m surprised Wallace did such a thing. Also, could
Wallace have made it more obvious? Why didn’t he get two or three questions wrong on purpose or at least finish at the
same time as everyone else? Beats me.
On the rape front, Claire doesn’t remember anything
about that night. She doesn’t remember being at the ATM machine, or does she know who the Asian man behind her was.
Veronica learns that his name is Wang-Yi. When she visits his house, she speaks to his roommate. He says that Claire is Wang-Yi’s
girlfriend.
The Hearst Rape Files
-
Claire doesn’t remember being at the
ATM machine.
-
She claims she doesn’t know the Asian
guy behind her.

The Asian guy’s name is Wang-Yi.

His roommate claims Claire is Wang-Yi’s

Quotable Quotes
-
Weevil: “Any big Halloween plans?”
Veronica: “Oh
the usual—slipping in my sexy nurse duds and rolling tweeners for their chocolates.”
-
Dean O’Dell: “Have you met my
wife?”
Veronica: “Has
your wife met the hot chick?”
-
Veronica (to
Keith): “Do you see why he’s the dean most frequently burned in effigy?”
-
Veronica (after
getting her necklace ripped off): “You’re gonna regret that.”
-
Lamb (about
the casino room): “It’s like Sodom and Gomorrah.”
-
Veronica (to
Weevil): “Hope you don’t mind. One of the cockroaches let me in.”
-
Veronica (to
the actors of the school play about the film members spraying Pam on the floor): “Maybe this is their way of saying
‘break a leg.’”
Some Final Notes
-
Where is Mac? She better be in next week’s
episode.
-
Claire is somehow involved in what’s
going on.
-
Keith’s story with Dean O’Dell
was great. Keith beautifully handled the agreement. He saved the boy’s life and spared his father from jail.
-
The robber’s voice was annoying.
-
The movie produced from the school’s
film crew looked really corny.
-
Logan should look into keeping that black wig…ya right.
-
Weevil is living in a dump. It makes me feel
really bad. What happened to his grandmother?
-
Nice reference to the first two seasons: Veronica
was Keith’s secretary. That was fun.
-
Was this the first time we saw Veronica’s
necklace?
-
What’s going to happen to Wallace? Can
he get kicked out?
I loved the episode. A
major improvement. 4 stars
