Lord of the Pi's
Episode 3.8

I really didn’t like this episode. It was just stupid. I find more and more that Veronica Mars is letting me down week after week. Season three started out excellently, but I keep finding major problems with every episode. I had a lot of high hopes for the rape mysteries, but those let me down too. Now, we have one episode left before Christmas break and the buzz says this episode is supposed to rock.

Let’s rehash this week, though. For starters the Selma Rose storyline bore me to death. That couldn’t be a dumber excuse for a story. What was up with making her hide in her guest house? That was stupid. Also, I thought her having an affair with Hallie just plain stupid. It seemed too convenient. Too convenient. I do like when a show picks fun at real life celebrities. Making fun of Anna Nicole Smith was a great touch though. I really enjoyed it. Referring back to Hallie, I find Veronica Mars introduces the most useless characters then brings them back for the most useless reasons. Leaving Hallie as the hysterical “ditsy” girl we met at the sorority would have been great. I also thought they could have done more with Selma Rose. She was the swing vote concerning closing down the sororities and the writers could have used this more. It wasn’t a smart move.

LoVe is over. I think it was inexcusable on Veronica’s part to not answer her phone. We know how you are and GET OVER IT! If you claim to still love your boyfriend, what’s the matter with making a few sacrifices? Enough with this crap. Seriously. Logan was only looking out for her. Why does she have to get all angry and defensive? He was worried about her well-being. If I would have done that for my girlfriend, I would not want such a reaction. She’s always yelling at him to take more responsibility. Logan is trying to be responsible. He’s trying to protect Veronica. That really pissed me off. The last scene was perfect though. I want to find out how Logan’s going to react to this.

If there’s one thing I liked about the episode was the long-awaited father-daughter story. We haven’t seen Keith with Veronica a lot and this year and it has indeed hurt the show. They were bonding again. That’s always nice to see. Watching them infiltrate Selma Rose’s house was great. That’s what fathers and daughters should do on a regular-day basis. Also, seeing Veronica at the office again made me think of the first two seasons. Rob, did you get the hint? I want something as good as the past two seasons?

I’m also a bit confused concerning the feminists’ involvement in the rapes. Which rape was their fault? Or did they just fake Claire’s rape? That seems too obvious. That’s also pushing it a bit. I still think that Nish is the rapist. She keeps showing up and she keeps pissing me off. I’m also guessing that Chip isn’t the rapist because he wouldn’t have done you-know-what to himself. The whole thing with the Easter egg was fun. That had to really be embarrassing though.

The Hearst Rape Files

-          Chip was found shaved with an Easter egg up where the sun don’t shine on the Hearst college lot.

-          There was also a girl named Patrice who was a sorority sister until she walked off the roof.

-          She is now in a mental hospital.

-          Signs also point to the Lilith girls. It seems as if they might have faked Claire’s rape.

Quotable Quotes

-          Lamb: “Rich women aren’t the most reliable creatures.”

O’Dell: “Of course she must have remembered her tennis lesson.” Dean O’Dell with some sarcasm.

-          O’Dell: “The sheriff is an idiot. I’ve met smarter sandwiches.” Dean O’Dell with another smart comment.

-          Dick: “I don’t know what the number is. It wasn’t a baby shower. We didn’t all wait around for this one egg to come out to see what he got.”

-          Veronica: “When you stick an Easter egg in a frat boy’s outer door, do you kiss him first?”

-          Hallie: “You’re blocking my sun.”

Veronica: “I didn’t know that was yours.”

-          Veronica (climbing on a fence): “This is just like the time we went to Disneyland. If I have another altercation with Snow White and her disapproving dwarfs, you’ll take Sneezy this time.”

-          Hallie: “Bud Rose is more of a man than you can ever begin to handle.”

Veronica: “Slow down, Anna Nicole, you’re skeeving me out.”

Some Final Notes

-          Bud’s assistant Brant was probably the most annoying secretary I have ever met. The actor was great with that part. I loved watching Keith stare and laugh.

-          Selma’s bother’s indifference to her disappearance was pathetic. In his mind, she left to mess with his mind.

-          Keith and Veronica working on the same case was fun.

-          In the previews, it seems as if Mac is finally back.

-          Wallace is no longer Veronica’s go-to guy. The writers have to get him back in there. We all miss the old Wallace.

-          I gasped when Logan’s bodyguard grabbed Veronica and took her outside the cafeteria. I thought someone was really taking her.

-          The dark scenes in the library further scared me. Enough with wanting to rape Veronica.

-          Veronica is the photographer for the school newspaper again. Does that say something about Nish?

-          Was I the only one freaked out by having Patty Hearst and Kristen Bell in the same scene? She freaks me out.

Not too good. 2 stars
